On Disney's behalf, this is the first time they've used this packaging for a Blu-ray 3D release.

However, their past Blu-ray + DVD double feature combo packs this year have used a similar packaging.

Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012

Anyone else disappointed that the 4 disk set comes with the album and not the soundtrack? I saw that it included music with this set, but didn't realize till I got in the store that it included the album. I don't know a single artist in the album. I like listening to music from the movie, not music inspired by it.

Sold out at the Target near my office. Hopefully the other 3 along the way home will have one.

Damn! So there are now THAT MANY households that have 3D players and 3D TVs? Wow.

Not necessarily. Some purchase the 3D version for future use. It comes with regular Blu-ray, as you know.

I think I've heard people use that reason "for future use" for the better part of the past 2 years now.

Maybe so, and I may be wasting my money, but if there's a 3D/Blu-ray option, I'm willing to pay a little extra. Currently, my 62" 1080p DLP works fine, but it's going on 4 years old. If it dies tomorrow, I'll be getting a new TV and it'll be 3D capable. My PS3 (my primary Blu-ray player) can already handle it. I'd just like the option if given the opportunity. Therefore, I'm one of those who purchases the 3D version without the actual ability to view it.

I hear you, I did the same thing myself. I just wonder those who make that claim vs those who will actually get one, will make a significant difference in the numbers of 3D households.

The 3D combo pack contains the exact same disc's as the 2D combo pack, plus the 3D disc, the digital copy, and the music download, and is the same price. Even if I don't have 3D TV/Player, why would I pay the same price for less content?

Nice of Amazon to match Target's price so those who had the coupon got it for 14.99. Had to chuck the DVD and the digital copy so I don't have to stack the damn discs.

You have to figure most people (the general population) have just recently upgraded their old 27", 32", etc. tube tv to flat screen LCD or Plasma in just the last few years. I doubt most people want to upgrade again just for 3D capabilities so soon.

I'm not a big fan of the flip cases but those are better than this one! I'm glad I didn't get the 3D version.

I picked up the 2-disc BD set from Target with the Bonus disc. I have no need for the 3D disc, digital copy and music download.

Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012

How does one get the 'digital music album'? I've transferred the digital copy for Windows Media Player, but was never prompted to download the music? Anyone have any luck with that? What am I doing wrong?

Did you go to www.avengersassembleoffer.com? The digital soundtrack was a .zip file full of 320kbps MP3 files.

I want to hack xage's bank account. The guy has so much disposable income that I doubt he'd notice if a few grand went missing.

Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012

i don't get the point of having the combo packaging in both DVD and Blu style cases. It's the same Blu/DVD discs on the inside so why have 2 different packages?

And on another note my free amazon blu hadn't shipped yet, so I contacted CS and was able to talk them into swapping the standard Blu to the 3D version for the same offer since it was the same price

There's also the fact there are some who remember when POTC 4 came out, the commentary and all the extras were ONLY in the 3D set. The regular BR didn't have them.

Same thing with Conan the Barbarian. Commentary and extras only available with 3D

Now if only somehow Walmart would lower the price and somehow get retroactive differences. :-)
