That's sort of cool looking but I don't really know that it's worth $70. I guess it does have the $30 Sideshow Collectibles gift card which I'd use but meh..I'll probably just get the standard two disc version.

Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012

What percentage will BR vs DVD will end up:

65% BR - 35% DVD?

But, this will be the title everyone will want to pickup, including those who do not have an HDTV or a BR Player.

Though the BR buying are going to come out in full "Mighty" force, so that will drive the BR numbers up...

BR world can expect a huge number of Disks sold, but it is the DVD totals that may or may NOT surprise me.

Hunger Games will surpass the $100 million mark after being on sale for only 6 or 7 weeks, very impressive for the DVD market now a days. I just don't think The Avengers will as well on DVD, this title just screams for BR Quality (Plus you can only buy 3D on BR).

I am picking up the 3D set from Target tomorrow, I hear the 3D fighting at the end is awesome on 3D. So may become my Show Off 3D disk, just like the IMAX parts of TDK is my Video Quality Demo for BR/HDTV.

Question: I've only really seen Iron Man, and that was ages ago. Should I watch the others beforehand or can I go for this one straight away?

IM2 does add some back story, and I do recommend it, but it's not crucial to understanding the other films.

Has anyone's Amazon order shipped, specifically other Prime members?

I pre-ordred my copy on June 1st and Amazon hasn't even began processing the order yet. It's on track for delivery on "September 27, 2012."

I pre-ordered when I was a prime member. My membership has lapsed, but it still had prime shipping. It shipped today and is scheduled for delivery tomorrow.

I've only seen IM, IH & CA and all three were forgettable and Avengers was a blast. No need to see the others.

They aren't completely necessary but I'd say they're all enjoyable to watch and add some back story to The Avengers.

I'm most definitely watching them all at one point or another, but I have more of a drive to watch Avengers now than to see the others before it.

I think Thor, and to a lesser extent Captain America, will add some to the experience in that you may know a little background of a few items and people.

I think you should watch the others. I like them all to varying degrees, but none of them are bad. I think they all expand on the experience.

You can probably skip the Hulk movies. Actually, I recommend skipping the Ang Lee version. The others are much more directly tied to the Avengers experience.

The 3D version has the blu-ray discs stacked on top of each other?

WTF?

My friend works at Target and he confirmed for me that the 3D version of Avengers will be $19.99 tomorrow!

Well Lee's has nothing to do w/ the MCU. It was made by Universal not Marvel. Marvel made The Incredible Hulk but Universal put it out.

Why the hell do they spend 6 minutes "unboxing" this? Why the hell do people even post these?

I find the banter of the folk doing the unboxing just mindnumbing.

Thanks to the $5 coupon, that's exactly what my Amazon order has gone down to.

Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012

I went ahead and got the Best Buy set. I got a free IMAX poster when I saw the film the first time and tonight I got a poster as well. Since I am very picky about the condition of my posters and neither one was pristine by the time I got them the illuminated packaging serves as a very nice and unique replacement to both those posters.

But yeah....the stacked discs stuff is bullshit.

I don't understand why they did that. It's not like there aren't any Blu-ray cases (even thinner ones) that can hold 4-discs. But it's Disney and I know they've done this with a few of their recent animated releases.

Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012

Got my copy at Target this morning. For those wondering, the Target bonus disc is a Blu-ray, even though the sleeve has a DVD logo on the back (maybe they have a DVD and Blu-ray version but they all use the same sleeve?). The exclusive was stuck to the back of the case using a big strip of booger glue, and it still has a little residue, but luckily I'm going to put this in the Best Buy metal case anyway.

For anyone that's interested, I took a quick pic of the back of the exclusive disc sleeve with my phone see here
