Own the others can can't wait to complete the series. They've done a great job with these sets.

I know not many people here are willing to pay top cash for BDs let alone TV on BD, but this series is worth it. I'm glad that CBS has spent good money and used all their available resources to put out a quality product. I know money is easier to spend than earn, but if more people are willing to support products like this and not wait for 5 finger discounts, more releases like this would come out.

BTW, Trek Core also believes that season 7 will be released during the Fall/Early Winter.

Awesome. I've been wondering for a while. "Relics", "Chain of Command", "Ship in a Bottle", "Face of the Enemy", and "Tapestry" all in high def. I'm looking forward to the new special features to these episodes as much as the new transfers. Season 6 is a big ball of fun even with 'lesser' episodes like "Rascals", "A Fistful of Datas", and "Timescape".

And I'm glad that they include the wonderfully melodramatic trailers:

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/Bf0DDBXf7wY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

And this will be the first time we'll see what Deep Space Nine will/could look in high def in the crossover episode "Birthright, part I" or a high def Runabout in "Timescape".

"Timescape" is lots of fun, one of the best one-off episodes. Isn't the footage of the Enterprise-D docked at DS9 in "Birthright" stock footage from "Emmisary," a DS9 episode itself?

You're right, "Timescape" really shouldn't be considered lesser and it's a ball.

And yes, the footage of the Enterprise-D docked at DS9 was from the pilot. But, this time, we'll be able to see it in HD! (Assuming they have the original negatives of it.)

I'm assuming they'll reconstruct it digitally like they have with the other FX?

That dog Marina had in the clip...is that the one Jonathan, Michael and Brent stuck in the mircowave (some of you have heard this story)?

I forgot all the great episodes in Season 6...this might be the best season of the show.

...yet season 7 goes completely off the rails. I hope they have a standalone for "All Good Things".

Re: Star Trek TNG remastered on its way for 2012

I'm trying to imagine how they're going to do the trailer for season 7: "All right Star Trek fans, get ready for...oh fuck it, it has like maybe 4 or 5 good episodes and the awesome series finale. It's an all or nothing deal...on 1080p with surround sound! From Paramount!"

Season 7 is an oddity. DS9 was starting to develop continuity, B5 had just started with a predetermined storyline, but TNG S7 feels weirdly episodic and there isn't much sense of an ending. Which is a shame, because "All Good Things" is better than almost all of the TNG movies. I suppose that the split between DS9 and TNG production staff and the production on the movie finally started taking their toll.

As I recall, by the last season, the producers of the show were actively soliciting spec scripts from fans. Basically, the writers were stretched thin across the franchise and ran out of ideas.

Actually, it's the opposite. Michael Piller started the open submission policy on season 3. When Jeri Taylor took over as showrunner in season 7 when Piller was on DS9, she put an end to that. Freelancers still occasionally made some submissions though.

Re: Star Trek TNG remastered on its way for 2012

The "Chain of Command" 2-parter gets the single Blu ray treatment:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/JCkoQL-6cdc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

It was this or "Time's Arrow". I'm glad they made right choice. I mean, "Time's Arrow": how lame would that have been?

What are the odds for "Birthright"; "Descent"; or "Gambit" getting this treatment? (the last 2 may have a shot IMHO)

I'm guessing the final single-disc release will be the two-part series finale.

How would that work? These previous features have been spliced together 2-parters and "All Good Things..." was a single feature to begin with. The only draw that would get would be having exclusive special features. Then again, I shouldn't underestimate Paramount...

That would be my assumption. Maybe it'll even get few theatrical screenings to hype it up.

Re: Star Trek TNG remastered on its way for 2012

The specs for TNG season 6 and "Chain of Command"--

Season 6:
• 1080p, 1.33:1 video
• DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 sound
• Archival Mission Log: Special Crew Profile: Lt. Cmdr. Data (SD)
• Archival Mission Log: Inside Starfleet Archives: Sets and Props (SD)
• Archival Mission Log: Mission Overview Year Six (SD)
• Archival Mission Log: Select Historical Data (SD)
• Archival Mission Log:Bold New Directions (SD)
• Beyond the Five Year Mission - The Evolution of Star Trek: The Next Generation (HD)
• Archival Mission Log: Departmental Briefing Year Six: Production (SD)
• Deleted Scenes
• Archival Mission Log: Departmental Briefing Profile: Dan Curry (SD)
• Audio Commentary By James L. Conway and Jonathan West
• Audio Commentary By Ronald D. Moore and Mike & Denise Okuda
• Gag Reel (HD)

"Chain of Command"
1080p, 1.33:1 video
DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 sound
Audio Commentary By Ronny Cox, Jonathan West and Mike & Denise Okuda
The Priviledge of Rank: Making Chain of Command (HD)
Episodic Promos (Parts 1 and 2, SD)
Deleted Scenes

One curious omission from the listings of the season 6 set, is the episodic promos. Hopefully, they will be included. The only reason they might not be included in the sets is that the promos for season 6 (and 7) use a lot of different music and it may have cost too much money to secure the rights. However the old episode guide CD-ROM showed them all (It's sad that I know that, and care).

So the Ronny Cox commentary is exclusive to the Chain of Command individual release? Darn, I would have liked to hear that one.

S6 seems light on new HD features compared to previous seasons. Why did this one take so long to get out again?

I think it's partially because CBS Digital is handling the remaster for the final seasons. They handled the remastering for season 1, 3, 5, and now 6 and 7, so previously the season 2 and 4 releases could come out and CBS Digital would still have 7-9 months to work on each release. With Season 6, it's about a 7 month gap, and Season 7 will be an, at most, 6 month gap.

Also, since there's only two seasons left, Paramount wants to release them at the ideal times this year, which includes one in the summer and one right around Christmas. It's actually the same release schedule as in 2012 with seasons 1 and 2, but 2013 spoiled us with 3 releases.

I'm hoping Amazon (or someone else) does a fantastic deal on a bundled box of this for Black Fri, because that's the only way I'll be picking it up.

I am hoping as much as possible that they'll unearth the extended cut. They found a longer "Measure of a Man," so there's precedent. I've read that there are whole excised characters and subplots that wound up cut from the finished finale, so maybe, just maybe the final release will include a large number of unseen scenes and be a great ending to these great releases.
