Well, as I'm sure you know, Season 2 is going to feature a sit-down with all the actors. My only concern is they'll drop new bonuses all together after a few volumes...which happens a lot on multiple season sets (usually because sales of earlier seasons don't justify producing new bonuses on later season releases).

Would a few commentaries be too much to ask? Weren't there some recorded for the DVD sets?

Meh..I would think these should all sell pretty well. It's Star Trek and The Next Generation is one of the most popular incarnations of Trek. Fans of this franchise are pretty loyal and will basically plunk down money for anything that's put out. Plus didn't the DVDs of the series all have a pretty decent amount of bonus features for each season? Maybe some of those extras will be ported over.

Well, they did also port over the extras from the Season 1 DVD set. I'm sure they'll continue that trend for the other seasons at the very least...

For future season sets, I think it might be interesting to hear from the writers of the show, inlcuding Berman and how hear their thoughts on the season. It's definitely not feasible IMO to get the entire cast to record new material for each season. And yeah I think the previous bonus material will probably be ported over.

All the extras should be ported over...I think that goes without saying. It's the "new" material that may not be as good. I'm sure as we get into Seasons 4, 5, etc. we may get new featurettes on set design, scoring, etc...interesting, but not every fan's cup of tea. I agree with those who have said some commentary tracks would be nice.

They should be ported over yes, but we've seen with studios before that isn't always necessarily the case and some things get left off for whatever reason. I'm sure some of them at least will be ported though.

Re: Star Trek TNG remastered on its way for 2012

From here:
I just got off the phone with Deluxe.

I was told replacement discs are now not going out until September.

I had been concerned because I never got confirmation that my email submission to get replacement discs was received or complete.

The guy I talked to was friendly enough, but he could not find my email submission and took my information again.

I was told they have "over 3,000" requests for replacement discs.

I never got a confirmation either and forgot they were supposed to be here any day now. Guess I'll verify on Monday.

I'll worry about it once the discs are actually done.

According to The Digital Bits:

Now then... we've gotten word that shipments of CBS's fixed Star Trek: The Next Generation - Season One Blu-rays have been pushed into early September. The reason is that it seems one of the episodes on Disc Five was found to be missing a visual effect, so that's being fixed as well. We'll let you know when shipments start hitting the mail.

Could this set have been more fucked up upon release? LOL.

Glad I decided to wait it out.

I don't regret picking it up, since the selling price has gone up about $20 since the first week. Yes, it's irritating that it wasn't done correctly right off the bat, but at least CBS/Paramount quickly owned up to it, is fixing it, and not charging us for the replacements.

Re: Star Trek TNG remastered on its way for 2012

I just got my replacement discs for 1, 3, 4 & 5. Came with a nice postcard apologizing for the errors with a cool sketch on the other side of the Conference Room.

EDIT: Apparently, the drawing on the postcard is:

OMG! That's the art used to simulate the crew in the observation deck (the conference room) in the opening credits of the show! It only needed to be a drawing because it is so very small inside the windows of the ship. Cool!
Guess I'm not Trek enough to know exactly what it was.

Meh..there were some errors but the set came out at a pretty reasonable price and we were offered replacements right after the errors were discovered. I'm still glad I picked it up when I did considering I got it for about $20 less than it's currently listed at on Amazon.

My goal is the $39.99 I paid for the TOS boxsets... I don't think it's undoable.

Did you get your replacements after calling them or sending them the initial e-mail reply?

I called the day after the replacement was announced. I never got an e-mail confirmation.

Yeah, I'm sure after a while they'll go lower on a sale or something. I guess I didn't have a problem paying $60 because I never had the DVD sets so this is my first time buying TNG (except for the Blu-ray sampler earlier in the year and a single disc best of DVD compilation).

Re: Star Trek TNG remastered on its way for 2012

Nice to hear. I was actually hoping to get a replacement Disc 5 at some point anyway, as one of the episodes skipped once or twice during a recent viewing (slight damage on my specific disc, not a perceived authoring error).

Same here... Mine came in the mail today. Glad I thought to check my mail before heading out otherwise they would have been baking all day in the sun and 92 degree heat.

They added a starfleet insignia to the new discs to differentiate between the old and new.

All in all... Glad I picked up the set on sale and very happy with the way they handled the issue.

Re: Star Trek TNG remastered on its way for 2012

Just received my set as well. No email of anything, just appeared in the mail this morning. Pretty cool postcard sized apology note as well. It was a pretty quick turnaround and I think the situation was handled pretty well all things considered. Now for the wait for season two...

Re: Star Trek TNG remastered on its way for 2012

Count me in the group that received mine in the mail today. I had called right after tvshowsondvd placed the notice of who to call. I was pleasantly suprised to find them in the mail today. Liked the postcard also. Thanks, Paramount! You handled this problem in a classy way.

Still no sign of my replacements here in Utah. Hopefully they'll show up on Tuesday.

I haven't gotten anything in yet, although I e-mailed instead of calling. I'll wait a bit longer, then I'll probably try calling to make sure I'm covered.
