Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?
October looks to be a CRAMMED month of Blu releases, with a ton of new releases as well as some very long-awaited catalog releases. What are you planning on getting, and what will you pass on? And any guesses on which ones will be cheap before Christmas?

Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?
Grindhouse and Wolverine and the X-Men are the only ones I have pre-ordered, and that's because I got good prices on them. There's a few other things I will get at some point down the line when I can get them cheap enough.

Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?
I'm probably going to wait till next month when the holiday sales start up to pick up most of October's releases.
|
Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?
The only ones I'm interested in are
Grindhouse: Special Edition (Vivendi) A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010) (Warner Brothers) How to Train Your Dragon (Paramount) Predators (20th Century Fox) Back to the Future: 25th Anniversary Trilogy (Universal) And I'll probably wait until Black Friday or when the black friday ads leak to pick any of them up. I think this holiday season will suffer in DVD/Bluray sales just because this summer had such shitty movies. The only other movies that I might get this fall would be Inception, Machete, Iron Man 2, Get Him To The Greek, Avatar Special Edition (I didnt get the barebones) |
Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?
Expensive. I should start saving now and not buying for the rest of September :)

Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?
Don't forget about those Halloween horror sales that pop up every year to promote the Halloween season.

Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?
Looks like my wallet will rest well that month. Nothing there I want to buy.

A pretty good month, but I'm not sure I'd characterize it as "awesome" - Apocalypse Now, The Magician, Maltese Falcon, Psycho and Treasure of the Sieera Madre for me.

Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?
I'll probably want all of what I've listed below at some point, perhaps... but I'm not planning on buying most of these anytime soon. I can always wait for sales which will eventually come. Also, as others have mentioned, I already picked up many of the Best Buy Exclusives.
Beauty and the Beast (Diamond Edition) (Buena Vista) The Exorcist: Extended Director's Cut (Warner Brothers) Grindhouse: Special Edition (Vivendi) Mad Max (MGM/UA) Peanuts Holiday Collection (Warner Brothers) Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Undead (Indican) The Darjeeling Limited (Criterion) Dollhouse: Season 2 (20th Century Fox) The Magician (Criterion) Sex and Lucia (Palm) Three Kings (Warner Brothers) Moulin Rouge! (20th Century Fox) Oceans (Disneynature) Predators (20th Century Fox) Psycho: 50th Anniversary Edition (Universal) Romeo + Juliet (MGM/UA) Seven Samurai (Criterion) Alien Anthology (20th Century Fox) Back to the Future: 25th Anniversary Trilogy (Universal) Paths of Glory (Criterion) |
Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?
I have been much more selective about buying blu-rays than I was about buying DVD's, so the only "must buy" for me on that list is The Last of the Mohicans.
