Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?

The fact that my favorite film of all-time (Psycho) is getting released next month automatically makes October awesome. I'm also excited for the Alien set, Last of the Mohicans, Treasure of the Sierra Madre, Maltese Falcon, Apocalypse Now, and BTTF.

You know, seeing the posts that mention Black Friday made me realize that I completely forgot about it. Barring an incredible release week deal, I may just hold off on everything.

Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?

Wow. Crazy amount of great releases.. I'm going to be tempted by R+J for sure... Paths Of Glory from Criterion may be too awesome for me to resist. I'm a sucker for anything Kubrick, but Kubrick + Criterion is intoxicating.

Back to the Future will be actually pretty easy for me to resist since the DVD's actually look really good upconverted on my setup, so I honestly am not sure how much better it can look.

The Alien Anthology will be real painful for me because I just can't justify spending that kind of money on frivolousness right now, but I'm gonna want it.. maybe Christmas... maybe I'll just have to wait for the price to drop significantly or I get a better job!

^^^There's only 9 in October that I'm looking to get. I can wait on all the rest. Psycho and Back to the Future Trilogy are the only other ones I might buy first.

I'll wait for price drops on the couple that I might get.

Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?

I trimmed my list of things I plan to buy down a bit. October is my birthday plus the rest of it can wait for Black Friday/holiday sales or possibly stuff I'll ask for Christmas or whatever. There's just too much coming out in the same month to get everything that I actually want and I really don't feel like spending a fortune on Blu's (especially when I already have a backlog of stuff to finish).

The only things I'm getting for sure are:

Grindhouse (pre-ordered)
Back to the Future: 25th Anniversary Edition (UK version, pre-ordered)
The Exorcist: Extended Director's Cut (pre-ordered)
How To Train Your Dragon (probably will buy it with birthday money)

Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?

Why did you post this list? I like to remain ignorant of new releases. :)

Probably going to get the following:

The Darjeeling Limited (Criterion)
Apocalypse Now: Full Disclosure Edition (Lionsgate)
Moulin Rouge! (20th Century Fox)
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (35th Anniversary Edition) (20th Century Fox)
Paths of Glory (Criterion)

That list contains two of the greatest movies of all time. :)

Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?

I'm hoping I can control myself this year. October is the BEST time of year to purchase DVDs because many horror movies are released/re-released. I'm hoping for Rosemary's Baby on Blu-Ray.

A Nightmare On Elm Street and The Blair Witch Project are must haves!

Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?

Won't be expensive for me at all. The only thing worth seeing is Superman/Batman Apocalypse. And that only because they have Tim Daly and Kevin Conroy as Superman and Batman. The other big thing coming is Beauty and The Beast and Back To The Future, both of which I'm getting as gifts.

Psycho and Apocalypse Now. That's it. Of course, in other areas of my life, it could get ridiculously expensive.
