Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?

Those of you getting Mad Max on October 5th, be sure to double check your pre order to make sure that you have the one thats in the Bluray packaging, and not the dvd packaging by mistake.

I had preorderd mad max as soon as the pre order went up not realizing 2 days latter that they added a second pre order and that one was now bluray packaging and the first one was in fact in dvd packaging.

the one in the dvd packaging was the first pre order to go up and it had no picture or mention of dvd caseing at the time.
http://www.amazon.com/Mad-Max-Wbr-Me...3756825&sr=1-2

two days latter a second listing went up with bluray packaging and artwork in the bluray case.
and amazon then update the first listing to show the dvd packaging.
so i promptly canceled it and orderd the right one.

I'll probably pick up Beauty & The Beat and Rocky Horror on release day. Alien Anthology and Apocalypse Now can wait until Black Friday. I'm going to hold out hope that they will release the first BTTF film separately from the box set.

Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?

I definitely wouldn't characterize October as being an "awesome" month, there have been better this year. The two big box sets are great, but I can wait until X-mas for movies I've seen a thousand times already. The Criterions are indeed awesome, but when they can be had for $13 during the B&N sale its not a big deal. A couple of good TV releases with (Dollhouse, Wolverine, & Clone Wars) & the Bogie films are nice, but again, films I've seen a hundred times.

Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?

October's not going to be expensive for me at all. Since we're already seeing major titles available for $10 or less, there's no freakin' way I'm spending $25-$30 for a blu-ray, especially catalog titles.

It goes without saying that I'm not buying anything until the 25% off sale.

My view also. I'll keep an eye out for deals in the coming months/years for next month's releases.

But I agree with the OP that October is an interesting month for releases.

Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?

Very and very.

I'll just wait for decent sales on most of them before buying. There's a lot coming out that I want, but I'm not going to pay high prices just to get them.

October doesn't stand out for me any more then the other months. Probably about the same as this month, actually.

Shouldn't our movie collecting be... fun? Obviously only buy what you can... but, thinking about how much something's going to cost shouldn't be the first thing that comes to mind...

Wolf Creek on Blu Ray? I'm interested in that but it isn't listed on Amazon...

Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?

Already posted my list but probably will hold off on most of them. October is close enough to Christmas I'll wait for Black Friday sales and put them on my Christmas list. Wife and prarents are always asking me what I want for Christmas, kind of silly to buy a disc a couple months early then get another sweater that doesn't fit on CHristmas.

Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?

Not as bad on its own. It's the combination of October and November that's killer.

October:
5th:
Grindhouse, Maltese Falcon, Beauty and the Beast

12th:
The Darjeeling Limited (B&N Sale)

19th:
Psycho

November

2nd:
Bridge on the River Kwai

9th:
Doctor Who: Complete Fifth Series, Sherlock: Series 1, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World

16th (my bday):
The Night of the Hunter (B&N Sale), Metropolis, Sherlock Jr./ Three Ages

23th:
America Lost and Found: BBS Story Box (B&N Sale)
