Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?
This is what I want to purchase.
October 05, 2010 Beauty and the Beast (Diamond Edition) (Buena Vista) The Exorcist: Extended Director's Cut (Warner Brothers) Grindhouse: Special Edition (Vivendi) October 12, 2010 The Darjeeling Limited (Criterion) Dollhouse: Season 2 (20th Century Fox) October 15, 2010 How to Train Your Dragon (Paramount) October 19, 2010 Apocalypse Now: Full Disclosure Edition (Lionsgate) Black Christmas (2006) (Vivendi) Moulin Rouge! (20th Century Fox) Predators (20th Century Fox) The Rocky Horror Picture Show (35th Anniversary Edition) (20th Century Fox) Romeo + Juliet (MGM/UA) Seven Samurai (Criterion) October 26, 2010 Alien Anthology (20th Century Fox) Back to the Future: 25th Anniversary Trilogy (Universal) Maniac (1980) (Blue Underground) Sex and the City 2 (Warner Brothers) What I will purchase is an entirely different story because I will hold out until some of these become cheap. I will purchase Beauty and the Beast and Sex and the City 2 on street date for the GF alongside Grindhouse and Rocky Horror as they're two of my favorite movies, but I have patience for everything else. |

To those on here who are making comments about some of us spending to much money on movies or being impatient.
All i have to say is this, There are far worse things one could be spending money on than movies. Better spending Our money on lots of movies than on alcohol or drugs. |
Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?
I've been mentioning how "rough" October was going to be for a good while now. I've worked things up to use credit, reward zone coupons I've saved, a giftcard, the Disney coupon (and hoping for another), my credit card and good old cash.
Never had to be as creative and spread things around like that. Still, it was a decent break that BB got Hard Candy, High Tension, and Secretary before October and all for under $10. That's about $45 less out of what I planned to spend in October. Oh, and being disappointed with "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" was another break because I could cross off the sequel too. Still, it's either my most expensive or 2nd most expensive month since I went blu. |

Can someone tell me more about these Rocky Blu-rays listed in the original post? I know they're already out on blu-ray, are they reissuing them with special features finally?

All i have to say is this, There are far worse things one could be spending money on than movies. Better spending Our money on lots of movies than on alcohol or drugs. I just have been far more critical and selective in my purchases than i ever was with DVD. There are very few titles i need to have on release day since so many times they will be on sale a few weeks later. For some it's about the collecting and the thrill of the hunt. Now I just rent so it's strictly about watching and only buying those I know are worthy of repeated viewings. |

All i have to say is this, There are far worse things one could be spending money on than movies. Better spending Our money on lots of movies than on alcohol or drugs. Minority Report hit Blu-ray on April 15th. SRP is $29.99 and most places were selling it for $18.99 - $20.99 on release date (give or take). Less than three months later on July 1st, I was able to pick it up at Best Buy for $10 new. House of the Devil hit Blu-ray on February 2nd. SRP is $34.99 and most places were selling it for $22.99 - $24.99 on release date (again give or take). Less than four months later on May 30th, I was able to pick it up at FYE for $10 new. Don't get me wrong, I purchase a lot of Blu-rays per month. However, I also want the best deal to go along with it. There's some titles that I need right on release date, but I'm cool with waiting on other titles (specifically upgrades from DVD) if I'm going to be saving more than 50%. |

All Criterions (The Darjeeling Limited, Seven Samurai, House, The Magician and Paths of Glory) get shuffled back to the next BN sale, but otherwise October looks like this for me:

Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?
I only have one for the month of October, Grindhouse.
It makes sense to hold off for me on these releases, since Black Friday will be not to far off. Additionally, if I hold my cash for the Criterion sale.... In any event, there is some great stuff coming out. |
Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?
October won't really be all that expensive for me as the only titles I plan on picking up on release are Grindhouse (pre-ordered for $13.99!) and The Slumber Party Massacre Collection.

Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?
I could care less about what people buy or spend their money on, but I do wonder how they find the time to watch it all. Or how often it gets watched after the first time. That's certainly my biggest concern about my own purchasing habits with movies and music.
For me, October looks like 9 purchases (Splice, BATB, Moulin Rouge, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, My Dog Skip, Psycho, BTTF, Alien Quad, and Winter's Bone) which actually adds 14 new films to the already over-stuffed library. 2 CDs in October would ordinarily seen like no big deal, but they just add to the damage. |
Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?
Not as bad as I thought.
Grindhouse Predators Alien Anthology Though I may just wait for Alien and Aliens to get seperate releases or when the set drops in price. |
Re: Just how incredibly expensive and awesome will October be for you?
already bought 'High Tension' ;)
Alien Anthology [have several Best Buy GC's I'm using for that] Moulin Rouge! The Last of the Mohicans How To Train Your Dragon (Barnes and Noblie preorder) The Exorcist Grindhouse (got the wrong preorder price from Amazon $13.99 - :D :) ) holding off on the Criterions til the supposed November Barnes and Noble sale. Oceans - hold off and wait to see if I can I find a Region A import that has the longer cut of the film Beauty and the Beast [w/ Best Buy steelbook] waiting for Maniac to drop down in price - not an immediate purchase I think all my import orders for the Argento blurays are coming out in October in the UK. I haven't seen what the supplement features of the bluray is, but I might buy 'The Secret of Kells' |
