I watched Empire Strikes Back today and was very pleased with my purchase. It looks great, has the least tinkering with and it happens to be the best movie of the series.

Same here. I get goosebumps every single time I hear the Star Wars theme. These Blu-Rays will never be in my collection.

On my player I find the first time I load a disc, it caches all sorts of stuff to your Blu-ray player's ram storage - so next time it should start up faster. If you find it spinning its wheels for a long, long time - your temp file space might be full and you'll need to clear some memory out.

I've had the opposite problem specifically with Fox blurays, I've never been able to replay 'Last of the Mohicans' or 'Ice Age' - my LG just gets stuck and just wont play the discs... at all.

I watched A New Hope and then went back to watch Phantom Menace. I'm happy enough with the purchase, the movies look and sound great. I'm glad I just have a casual interest in Star Wars. I haven't seen the prequel movies since they were in theaters, so its nice to revisit.

I'm happy with the quality of this set and it's pretty awesome. When my player up converts the 2004 DVDs, it's not too bad either.

I don't watch special features too often. Of the ones I do, particularly a making-of doc, I watch them once, and never again. If you've seen the bonus features from the older releases before, what is the desire to see them again? How many different ways to you need to see George Lucas explain how he made the movies?

I never knew you could empty memory cache in a blu-ray player. Do all players have a setting to do this?

I used to have this opinion, as I was definitely that person in 2004 who HAD to have the movies on DVD regardless of all the silly changes. But times have changed for me in 7 years, as I realized I was part of the problem by continuing to support Lucas and his changes.

I really thought I would cave but he made it very easy for me to stay away from this release:

-By only including the OT deleted scenes in the saga boxset, if he put them in the OT boxset I may bought for that reason at a much cheaper price. Instead I found them on Youtube, and that was good enough for me.

-The NOOO addition just reminded me how silly this is getting and with the Jedi Rocks and Hayden Ghost scene has ruined an already mediocre Return of the Jedi.

-His daughter tweeted, "The Haters will hate and complain, but will end up buying the set." I don't need some spoiled brat who has had nothing to do with the movies commenting on the SW fanbase.

-The boxset is 90+ dollars depending on where you buy it, and thats alot of money for 3 PT movies that i could care less about and 3 OT movies that have been changed 3 times.

Got my box set for free at Moviestop after trade ins. So far Ive watched A New Hope, part of Jedi, and the OT deleted scenes. A great set so far. I'm now working on a custom 23 disc set with this, the 2006 OT, Trilogy bonus disc, Story of Star Wars, and Prequel releases.

I've never had my blu-ray player hooked up to the internet/phone line. If I hooked my player up to a phone line, would it automatically download whatever is needed to make it start up faster the next time I play these discs?

How have you been updating the firmware? What does your owners manual say?

Updating your firmware might help with the speed. Just depends on what they're updating. Doesn't hurt to do it (usually) but just don't expect the discs to load substantially faster if/when you do it. Usually the updates are for compatibility issues with certain discs or added features.

Had the set in my hands at Best Buy, with less than 1% intention of buying. I've been underwhelmed by it ever since the special features were announced. Tempted, of course. Love the packaging (not the artwork, just the design of the outer box and the way the discs are housed).

But the changes are increasingly silly, and worse, inconsistent: R2 behind rocks that appear and disappear. Light sabers which cores and colors are all over the place. Han and Greedo shooting simultaneously, making Lucas' rationale moot.

Documentaries for which fans have been pining-- nowhere to be found. Three hours of content-- the spoofs and Star Warriors-- that are of little or no interest (to me). Deleted scenes are always nice to have, but after seeing several of them on YouTube, one viewing is enough.

From Bill Hunt's review, the additional commentaries sound like the best part of the pack, and I've even considered getting the individual releases for them. But, I'm just not impressed. Having the complete saga in HD would be wonderful, but what we're getting feels like the least Lucas could do.

One would think Star Wars on Blu-ray would set the standard, raise the bar. Everything but the kitchen sink. Blow everything else out of the water. Instead, it drops the ball. Old transfers, variable PQ, lackluster extras. Come on, this is Star Wars! What the hell??

The more I've heard, the more at peace I've been with my choice. If Lucas ever does it right, I'll be happy to pay big bucks for something truly special. Till then, the 2004 DVDs are fine.

Honestly, I really think the 'rocks in front of R2' debate has been rather silly, and that's being kind about it. Seeing the change in action for myself, it's really not a huge deal. You see the rock in front of him, and then the camera is in the cave with him, behind him... sure, the openning looks bigger, but the camera angle kinda makes you think, "Well, his body is probably just covering that part up." Then next thing you know, he's coming down what's probably a wheelchair ramp from the cave, with most of his body covering that up, too. Really not a big deal, imho.

Most (all?) BD players do not have phone modems in them. They need to be hooked up to an ethernet or wifi (if it has wifi capabilities) network with internet access.

Typically, the BD player will check for update upon boot. Alternatively, there may be an update option in the settings menu.

Yeah, I guess it's the manufacturer's price. My point was any talk of the cost should be based on that, since whatever retailers decide to set the price at is a separate issue.
