I have to agree, I was expecting the worse, it's not that bad. Though, I did think the early scene (Whith Ah-nold in red shirt) with Carl Weathers was funny, the wax and the slight blur made him look like the "dream guy" in a teen movies. Dream Weaver was playing in the back of my head.

So how much money did Fox send you guys?
And when movies continue to get DNRed, we will know who to blame. People who shrugged and bought this waxy turd.

They didn't send me money. They sent me a copy Patton and a copy of Mad Money on Blu-ray and a box of Ju-ju bees. However, the ju-ju bees were covered in wax to make them appear to be bigger and more desirable. Fox is up to their tricks AGAIN! When will the madness end!

...says the HD-DVD supporter!
They didn't send me any money. They did, however, send me another anamorphic-labeled DVD of THE ABYSS which was still non-anamorphic letterboxed.
Yeah, the power of the people are really going to determine what movie/dvd/blu-ray companies do. No matter how much boycotting one does, it's not going to stop these companies from making money, creating double dips with varying video/audio quality, and so on. Here's a little marketing factoid that suckers all of us home video consumers everytime, including you: "re-releasing the same movie over and over on the same video format makes money." Please explain to me again the financial benefit of a blu-ray company to release an absolute perfect quality blu-ray? If a blu-ray is perfect then they may have trouble getting consumers to double dip on a re-release of it.

I would recommend that you take with a grain of salt any video quality reviews from a person who's previously said that he'd rather watch Raiders of the Lost Ark on VHS than on Blu-ray.

And according to that belief, I would assume that person would rather watch Predator with grain!
Josh, wasn't that said during the time when I was anti blu-ray? I've converted. I've seen the light. By the way, I really enjoy your blog and reviews at high-def digest. Are you ever going to review the blu-rays for Jet Li's Once Upon a Time In China 1 & 2 blu-rays? I'm curious what you think about those blu-rays since they have been known to be controversial as well...
Um, yes, the power of the people does determine what the studios and distributors do. As you stated before, re-releasing the same movie over and over on the same video format makes money, because people keep buying them. If people didn't spend their money on double-dipped releases that weren't up to par, then the studios wouldn't make money off the endeavor. It's not exactly difficult to figure out.

Yeah... I bought it. Big whoop! Wanna fight about it?
I really just had to satisfy my curiosity. For five bucks, I could cure that curiosity. That's like a rental. I'll make good use of that $10 in movie cash. If it wasn't for that, I would have stayed away but, damn if it didn't pull me in!

I can't support a fuck up. Even if it was my child, I wouldn't support that kid. It needs to know it fucked up. It ain't getting my money for this thing.

I don't want to support it either but you know, if for nothing else, it's a good thing to keep around (for $5 bucks that is) to show people the difference between 'film-like' and 'messed up beyond belief with DNR'.
