From Bob Gale--
"I’m sure fans will enjoy the new documentaries, which include interviews with cast and crew members who — for budgetary reasons — were left out of the 2002 documentaries…So there are some stories and anecdotes told on camera for the first time. And since everyone wants to know, there are three very brief snippets of Eric Stoltz incorporated into one of the documentaries."

I really hope that Bob Gale quote about the great transfer without DNR is accurate - with Universal it's a real crapshoot. Either way I'm pretty damn excited for this one. Getting it day 1 for sure.

I'll believe how good it looks when I see it. I have no trust in Universal when it comes to catalog titles.

I am pretty sure I read that Stoltz said a few years ago that everything worked out for the best and that he bore no ill will towards anyone.

Looks great, although I'm not going to hold my breath on hoping that Universal won't butcher these transfers. Special features look awesome though. Anything left off that was available on prior releases?

This is such great news! I'm so very excited!
I wonder if the new 6 part documentary will cover the whole trilogy and how long it will be. Either way, I can't wait for this!
On another note I don't really like that cover, but whatever, I didn't really care for the cover of the DVD trilogy either.

I'm sure Stoltz isn't proud of the footage, but from what I've read, it wasn't him holding it back.
It will be interesting to see the few snippets of the footage that they are including in the docs. I wonder what finally made them change their minds...

But seeing the footage makes him look bad, and it doesn't make us look too good either. We don't want to put something out there that's gonna make someone look bad. We didn't destroy the footage. It's still out there and we know it has historical significance. But maybe in another 20 years we can put that out there, but we don't want to put anything out there that's gonna hurt somebody"

“The HD transfers for all three films are simply breath-taking,” Gale told BTTF.com. “They actually look better than they did in the theater because of the incredible job that was done on dirt clean-up. (And the film grain is preserved, so they still look like movies should look.) And hearing the sound in full dynamic range is — okay, I’ll say it — a blast!”

Gale vouches for them.

Been a while since I saw them, very nostalgic, dated 80's feel to me... but I will definitely check them out, especially if the transfers are killer.

I figured this release would happen on my birthday (the movie takes place on October 26 so I kind of figured they'd roll with that). Hopefully I'm still alive and in much better shape when this comes out.

Did you travel to the future at some point in time and find out that a better visual presentation would come along so you held off from seeing them in the first place? I don't give a rat's ass if these movies were coming through on my 13" B&W set I had when I was a kid as I would be watching them.

In many ways, this is why I kinda miss the days of VHS (pre DVD/BluRay), because I didn't give a crap about the quality of the movie. Ignorance was bliss back when I was a kid, didn't know about widescreen, didn't know about anamorphic, didn't know about resolution, etc. The movie just came on TV, and I enjoyed it because it was a great movie. Now I'm spoiled and want the best quality because I know what the best quality looks like.
