I had my one of my chairs at home converted to Dbox after Dbox was installed into our theatre last year. After watching Fast and Furious and Terminator Salvation at work in Dbox, and realizing i had a decent number of films that allready had Dbox tracks on them at home allready, I was sold on it. Only thing that sucks is not every movie released in Dbox in the theatre gets a dbox track for the BD release. I believe ive mentioned on other threads for bd titles that have dbox before that i have Dbox as well. |

Worste DVD case ever. You have to push it down and pull up at the same time. Somebodys uncle owns a DVD case company

I've hated this type of packaging since House hit BD. Glad to see that others now agree so hopefully Universal will stop using it.

Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
I just read that the discs are in 3 double layered plastic cases. Are these normal width blu-ray cases with a disc on each side or with a disc on a flip tray, or are the case thicker like the Snow White and Pinocchio blu-rays ?

Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
I guess I'll keep the set since the disc is still firmly held in place and other sets will probably be broken as well. But this really is shitty packaging. And looking at the diagram explaining how to get the disc out makes me think the set was designed by Wile E. Coyote. |
Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
can anyone please comment on the packaging? I want this set, but I want to know about the US packaging before I drop the money on this set. Thanks.

seriously though Read through the last few pages and you will see plenty of comments on the horrible nature of this packaging |
Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
What's the deal with Thomas F. Wilson. With Crispin Glover it makes sense that they don't go to him or he's not willing to do interviews for the special features and such, but is Biff just that bitter about possibly being type-casted due to the movie? He of course has the Questions song, so is he just completely Back to the Future'd out? I'd be curious to know.
Same with Elizabeth Shue. Does she just feel like she doesn't really belong with the series? Just odd that pretty much all the major players participate in the special features (and the recent junkets) except for these two (again not so much a surprise with Crispin). |
Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
Tom Wilson was at our station a while back and one of my co-workers brought in a copy of Back to the future on DVD for him to sign. He refused saying he didn't autograph anything like that. I'm not sure if he just didn't like signing merchandise or if he didn't want to have anything to do with BTTF. I kind of got a feeling it was a mix of both. But he was a really nice guy. He let us take pictures with him, and he did roll with the BTTF references during the interview (though in hindsight I believe he wasn't happy about it as he wanted to focus on his stand-up show he was promoting).
As for the others. As you said, Crispin Glover is pretty obvious, but I'm not sure about Elisabeth Shue. I think she did get the short-end of the deal, especially since Mary Steenburgen is always in it. Granted, her part was probably bigger than Elisabeth Shue's since she didn't really do much and she was taking the place of Claudia Wells from the first movie. |
Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
Lots of talk about the bad packaging but how does the picture look? There had been a lot of talk based on screen caps.
|
Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
The packaging is weird, but it's not difficult to get the discs out once you figure out how to do so. Other than how the discs are held in place, I think the packaging is very nice.

Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
TomOpus, I'm still waiting to hear if the sound issues from the DVD on Part II have been fixed, but people are more focused on how horrible the cases are to comment.
I've read half a dozen or more extensive reviews and nobody specifically comments on whether the audio issues were fixed or not. For how much of a fuss people made about it when the DVDs came out, and how horrible the garbled music cues sound, I would think it would be somewhere near the top of the list to address with the new Blu-Ray reviews. :/ |

Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
He seems like even more of an ass than in the movie. Nobody would know who the hell he is if not for BTTF.
|
Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
Well, from the special features it seems like he was a super nice guy who was super far from the bully persona he took on and then became famous for. So, I can understand him being a bit bothered by everyone thinking he's a mean guy. But still, this movie made you famous, dude. And you did three of them...and a ride!

Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
Yea, I don't get why he is so against being a part of all the BTTF festivities this week.
|
Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
He probably gets tired of people seeing him on the street and yelling "Hey, butthead!" If he doesn't want to participate in the Blu-Ray or its festivities, that sucks, but whatever. Not signing a DVD, though, that's kind of lame.

Thats strange cause he does several autograph shows a year, and ive seen him at several premieres and events hosted at work ,and he always signs BTTF stuff for fans from DVDS to posters and pics. I got him on my original Back to the future one sheet, (not to mention Michael J fox, Chris Lloyd, Claudia Wells,Crispin Glover, Lea Thompson, James Tolkan,Marc McClure and Billy Zane) he always really friendly perhaps for what ever reason he just wasnt in the mood that particular day to sign. Talent can be like that sometimes, most of the time willing to sign but once in a blue moon it just isnt a time they want to do so. |

I've seen Tom Savini go from charging $20 for an autograph (several years back) to signing anything you brought, so long as you bought something (even something small, like a $3 item; this was 4 or 5 years ago), all the way back to not signing ANYTHING for less than $20 (currently). Then again, maybe Biff's just fucking moody. He seem like one morose motherfucker if you ask me. And he is usually more than happy to even though he isnt getting anything but the fans appreciation. Last time i saw him was like a month and a half ago, and he signed for quite a few people. |
Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
So...anybody care to actually comment on the films - picture quality, audio quality, etc.? I think I've heard enough about the cases and Wilson. ;)

Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
Sorry to beat a dead horse, but this is some of the dumbest, shittiest packaging I've ever seen. Yes, I know you're supposed to push in towards the springs, but what's wrong with a hub? And I know those springs are going to break. Movie looks great, though.

Superman07, I'm also starting to think that nobody's actually watching the movies either.
Or if they are they're not wanting to answer the question I asked... oh well. I'll keep looking elsewhere before I spend $50 I don't have to spare right now. |

 You sure can see MJF wearing makeup while watching BTTF 1 in HD
15 minutes in I rate the PQ 5/5 the grain and detail are all there the shots inside the McFly house look a little darker but that's expected due to poorer lighting AQ is good too mostly in the center speaker but no distortion |

Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
Thinking about ordering the UK tin, but I've never ordered from Amazon UK before. When I go to checkout the price drops from 42 to 35 in my cart. Is that normal? Will they show how much will be taken off my credit card before it ships (converted to US currency)?
|
Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
Just so I'm clear, the UK LE set is all region-free, right? Extra and all? I'm planning to order it but I want to be 100% sure.

Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
More fuel for the fire for the people bitching about packaging:
I decided to open my copy today, and while it was a straightforward process to get the disc out and back in, I did notice one of the little plastic holders already had broken off. That's probably the work of UPS, but I am going to have Amazon send me another one regardless. They are flimsy, I'll give you that. But I like the design. |
Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
I ordered the UK tin and got a shipping notice 5 hours later!
Then I saw the estimated delivery date... November 17. Oh well. It's worth the wait not to have the shitty US release. And apparently the Australian "DeLorean Packaging" was so shitty it got cancelled, so it looks like the UK set is the way to go. |
Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
Whether or not you consider it smoothed out, there was plenty of detail.
