Wow. I don't know what to think. I mean, ultimately, I just want the films and bonus features on Blu-ray... but the packaging and extras for the UK Tin Edition seem pretty sweet. Thanks for sharing the video.

The tin looks terrible but all the extras are pretty cool.

Looks fine to me, what do you see wrong with it?

This is a close-up pic of how the discs are held.

Yeah, the case blows. I'll just stick them in a UK 3 Disc Amray case as it should be about the same size.

Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)

I decided to get the set. After seeing how those are held, I'm expecting at least 1 disc to either be covered in finger prints or be scratched.

And yes, it is a myth that BDs don't scratch. They certainly do. I've encountered several in the past and it usually happens with box sets. Hopefully I'm okay this time.

What I don't understand is why the need to change how the discs are housed. 99% of the time, a simple button/hub is used and that seems to work fine. Why not just stick with what works?

Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)

That UK tin is really tempting - especially since up here in Canada the regular set is going to cost about $60 after tax - which is nearly the same as the UK set (unless customs has their way with it). Not sure if I can wait the extra few weeks but might have to go that route.

Seriously debating about ordering the UK set...it'll be my first import. Anyone have an idea how long it usually takes to ship to the US (FL to be exact...)

Thanks!

Thanks!

Usually takes a week (sometimes a couple days more) for Amazon UK packages to reach me in Florida.

I had been going to say, everyone was citing "The Office" Season 6, and I went and looked at mine and it just uses the overlapping hub, where the disc hub in the center overlaps with the disc in the lower tray. Easy to remove the discs. I thought people were really making a big deal out of nothing. Now that I can see that photo, I can say my "Office" set is nothing like that. That looks a little more complex.

I have just received my tin and the lenticular picture is probably one of the best things I ever got from a limited edition. It's the best thing in the tin for sure!
The old 1855 picture does indeed look like a screen grab. Very pixallated The almanac is kinda lame because it had to fit the tin. The USA Today front pages have the different headlines on either side.

I am glad I went for this set as it's a nice edition next to my Japanese LE.

Most of the time when I order from Amazon UK, it ships nearly right away (last time was the day after I ordered) and arrives in 4-5 business days. I live in Iowa.

The pictures and all reports were that it was like the Office and House. And, boy, it sure looked like the same thing in the photos.

Too bad this didn't get reported sooner, because I would have purchased the US set if I knew it had hubs. I still like the UK set more, but the original BTTF is just a personal favorite/classic of mine and I'm probably looking forward to seeing that more than anything else in either this set or the Aliens set.

Instead I'll be waiting about 10 days. At least I have a lot of blus that I still need to catch up on watching.

My copy of "The Office" is nothing like the picture Mr. Cinema posted. It's a standard digipak, the only minor difference is that the center hub is high enough that the hub partially overlaps the edge of the disc in whichever tray is set lower in the plastic. There are no side "spring" tabs, or clips holding the disc in on the left and right. The photo above doesn't even seem to have a center hub for the upper disc.

EDIT: given that there is no hub, why do you have to push the disc down towards the clips? Based on the photo, you could push it up, and it would align with the digital copy disc and should be removable...

You need to post pictures of your "The Office" BD, because that style packaging is exactly how everybody else's BD of "The Office" Season 6 (NOT Season 5) looks.

I would like to know how it was packaged in the box. I am not particularly a fan of the tin, but I would hate it to be dented even the slightest. The only extra that I really want is the lenticular photo and the design of the car seems nice but I don't know if those are worth the extra money (The other extras look too cheap - plate, almanac, newpaper)

I am still on the fence since I still have my DVDs and can wait for price drop on the US edition, but I am a sucker for extras. So it all come downs to how it's packaged and if it plays ALL the contents.

I got my copy today from Amazon. I took one look at the way the discs looked, and tossed it in the trash. I am presently scouring the web in search of a VHS copy.

You kids nowadays just don't know what good packagin' is.

I'd kill for a confirmation that the extras are NTSC. Someone confirmed a page ago but do not respond to requests for details or links.

Is it confirmed? Did I miss it somehow?

just as i feared just like the scream trilogy set. i dont know if you can see from these pics but the retainers as you called them snapped right off after only a few times of properly removing scream 3 to get to scream 2.
And several people have reported issues with discs breaking after contious removal. I will definately be looking for custom cover art.

I won a copy of the trilogy at a local AMC Theaters screening tonight. It's too bad the UK version is on its way here.

seriously though its a nightmare removing and replacing discs in it.

So did I!

What was your trivia question? Mine was "how much electrical energy is needed to operate the time machine?"

You could always put the one you won tonight up for sale or trade and thus pretty much cover the cost of your UK set.
thats what i would do anyways since the uk packaging is so much better than the us packaging

What TV show were the McFlys watching at dinner?

Based on what I read on AVS, I was expecting the question, so I was just waiting for them to ask. As soon as I heard the asker mention "TV show" my hand went up. And, I even knew the answer without having to look it up, which is really good or really sad.

I'll probably flip the thing on Amazon Marketplace when I get it.

Went ahead and imported the UK tin. This is the first set I ever imported, but after watching that Youtube unboxing video, I had no choice. I love the series too much not too. It only cost $15 more then me walking into Best Buy tomorrow, so it was well worth it.

I've decided I really want the UK Special Edition Tin. Now, I've told my family... and we'll see. It's on my Christmas Wish-list, so I don't know what to expect. I really want this edition now though. It blows the US one out of the water.

There's some VIVA Elite 6 disc Blu Ray cases on ebay shipped w/ expedited shipping for less than 6 bucks. That's what I'm doing.

Universal should have just used a case like that to begin with.

I have an extra lord of the rings sticker(steel) book(that a friend who pre ordered but didnt want the case), if i had a way to print up some cover art for the trilogy on a sticker i would go ahead and do that.

Where did you find the UK collectors tin for only $15 more than the US version??!! I searched high and dry and could not find a way to get this for under $100 shipped.

Amazon.uk at one point it came out to about 60 after shipping to the U.S.
Not sure where you were looking that you could not find a way to get it for under 100.00

You obviously didnt search very hard. it apears to be a wee bit higher now close to 70 but still definately under 100.00
