Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
One reason I like the eco cases is because they weigh a lot less and put less stress on a shelf. It's the only positive thing I can think of in regards to the cases.

Hopefully that will help a few folks. Also have you seen the DeLorean set? The model looks awful! Since you're in London, have you heard anything about the regular BTTF set? I know you're getting the tin and will report back about whether all the SD special features will play in the US, but I'm wondering if you've heard anything about the packaging of the standard set? I'd probably buy the regular set, without the goodies, from amazon.uk if it doesn't come in the same packaging as the US version. The ones with the pop out and slide digipaks. If you've heard anything about the regular set, would you please report back about that too? |
Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
Will do Dolphinboy.
I have a HMV close to where I work. The tin is ordered through Play so no doubt I won't be in when they deliver it! In regards to Eco-cases, I always like it when they pair them up with a cardboard slipcase! |

From the review for those interested about the packaging: **It should be noted that the trifold style Blu-ray case containing the discs is unlike any that I have seen and can make removal of the discs frustrating if you don’t know how. Each set of discs (the Blu-ray and digital copy for each), occupies its own section in the trifold arrangement. Unfold the set so that all three are visible and lay it on a flat surface (the Blu-ray Disc is on top of the digital copy). Looking at the bottom of the cutout where the disc is there are two plastics tabs that act as springs to keep the disc in place. Apply pressure by sliding the disc (top toward the tabs) and lifting it out. Replacing it is done in the reverse. The same goes for the digital copy underneath which will become obvious once the Blu-ray disc is removed. ** |
Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
That reviewer never saw The Office Season Six packaging then.

Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
I believe House season 6 is also the same. Unifrigginversal.
|
Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
Any review of a BD that uses the word slide the disc makes my stomach sour. I really hope that a review of the regular, non tin, set gets posted soon. It has only 3 discs but it's still possible that it's got the House design with 2 discs on top of each other on the left, with the 3rd movie alone on the right. And then there's the question of the standard def special features.
With all the complaining, I can see why people are turned off by it, but I can't see why people criticize those of use who don't want to slide our discs to take them out and put them in. That's just a major problem to me. And if you're making your own art and using a different case, then you shouldn't be ripping on people who don't or can't do that. |
Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
Ok I am hearing that the SD special features are not always PAL on UK Blu releases. Is that possible? Is that true? If so, what is the deal with BTTF and the Alien boxsets? Are the carried over SD features PAL or NTSC?

This is in my gold box today for $45.59. Debating on whether or not to order now.

I'm in for the UK set if it's confirmed to be completely unlocked for PS3.

I still have it pre-ordered with Amazon.UK, but absolute confirmation would be nice. |
Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
So what is the total price for the UK set from Amazon UK after shipping, VAT removed, etc in US dollars?

$43.89. That's the price Amazon.uk will charge me, including shipping, for the basic 3 disc set. Of course, I will cancel should someone state the extras are in PAL. (please god let the answer come soon)

DVD Beaver...another positive review.

The UK has no digital copies and each disc with actual artwork on this disc, nice but not essential for me, has it's on hub that it rests on like any normal blu ray disc rests on in a regular case. For me, this is HUGE. For others...not so much (unless they're making their own cases, I'm still not sure why more people don't HATE these new digis). |

Here's what a customer on Amazon UK had to say about the goodies:

Unlike the U.S., TVs in Europe are compatible with both PAL and NTSC. So viewers there won't have any problems watching NTSC features on the disc. If so, what is the deal with BTTF and the Alien boxsets? Are the carried over SD features PAL or NTSC? |
Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
I really like the metal box that comes with the UK Limited edition. But do I need a PlayStation 3 to play this blu-ray or i can just use my Region A player? maybe is a stupid question but i never bought a disc from the UK before.

http://forum.blu-ray.com/attachments...68245_full.jpg That being said, I decided not to get the UK Tin edition since I have $15 in RZ certificates from Best Buy, which makes it about $35 for me, half the price of the tin from the UK. |

How is seeing it in motion going to erase the effects of DNR? |

That was my plan, but since all the extras should play, I might just not bother. Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
Has anyone seen any custom made art work for the trilogy, that those of us who would like to simply put these into a standard 6 disc bluray case could use?

Wow that is so much nicer than the US set it's unbelievable. Really glad I went with that version. I wish the US branch of Universal put in half that effort.

Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
At first I wasn't that interested in the UK set. I've been trying hard to avoid special sets as much as possible. But that video makes it look much better than the static photos. Dammit.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LU6lYsUyIps As much as i cant stand the us packaging i cant bring myself to spend a extra 25 bucks and week longer wait. hopefully someone will come up with a custom cover art for the trilogy (ive seen ones for the individual release) That can be used with a 6 disc case. |
