Re: AVATAR Blu-ray - 4/22/10
Agreed, that feature is awesome and a pleasant surprise when i saw it earlier today.

Re: AVATAR Blu-ray - 4/22/10
Jennifer's Body and Red Cliff part 1 and 2 have the resume feature as well.
Not that anyone would want to resume watching Jennifer's Body. :yack: |
Re: AVATAR Blu-ray - 4/22/10
Yeah. I was heavily pleased that Red Cliff had that.

Re: AVATAR Blu-ray - 4/22/10
So I was at my Dillons (Kroger) grocery store today and they had "Avatar Party Cakes". They were basic flat cakes with a screen print of the Blu-ray cover on the cake. Weird.

Re: AVATAR Blu-ray - 4/22/10
This is bar none the best picture quality I have ever seen. I agree with Mr. Orndorf's review. An average movie that looks and sounds way above average.

Re: AVATAR Blu-ray - 4/22/10
While I agree that the disc is beautiful, it is the most frustrating Blu Ray to load. It took two try's the first time to load it, now I'm on try number three for my second viewing. Christ this taking forever.
Edit: Attempt number 4 and still no luck. |

Thank Fox for the ever changing security features.
Edit: The player says "menu", but the screen just shows a little Fox logo in the middle in the middle of the screen. |
Re: AVATAR Blu-ray - 4/22/10
What player do you have?
Almost every CE has released a firmware update for Avatar. I saw even Samsung did for their first BD player as did LG for their Dual Format players. Fox uses BD+ which is a security measure so the discs can't be copied/ripped. It's why sometimes Fox/Disney titles have problems playing. |
Re: AVATAR Blu-ray - 4/22/10
Avatar has a Resume Play feature...maybe that's what's causing your problem (if it played the day before)?

Well, I'm assuming it's not a firmware issue, because if it was why would it play perfectly fine on Thursday? Now my player is saying "cannot play this disc". This is confusing and frustrating.

Re: AVATAR Blu-ray - 4/22/10
I would suggest asking someone with a PC to download the firmware update for you and burn an image to a blank CD.
Once thats done its easy. http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu...pl?mdl=BDPS300 |

Re: AVATAR Blu-ray - 4/22/10
If you have DSL/Broadband jack, just hook it up to your BD player. That's what I did w/ my PS3 before I moved to an apt. w/ WiFi.

My friend is letting me use his computer right now, so I downloaded the update, and put it on a CD as a ISO file. Now what? I'm not sure how to burn it or do the "image" stuff. |
Re: AVATAR Blu-ray - 4/22/10
find an image burning program............

I honestly have no clue what I'm doing, and the fact that I'm on PC is confusing me even more. |
Re: AVATAR Blu-ray - 4/22/10
Use Disk Utility on Mac.
|
Re: AVATAR Blu-ray - 4/22/10
It's in Disk Utility, it has the options "first aid" and "restore". So how do I convert it?
Edit: Do I change it to a .dmg file? |
Re: AVATAR Blu-ray - 4/22/10
Ugh, I tried the "Convert" option and changed it to a .dmg file, but it said it could not do it. "Operation timed out" is what it literally said.

Re: AVATAR Blu-ray - 4/22/10
Ok, its finally downloading. After hours and hours, its finally downloading into my player. Today was a complete failure and waste.
