The Killer ---> 3/30/2010

From Blu-ray.com:

The Killer Blu-ray in March

Posted January 19, 2010 04:29 PM by Juan Calonge

Vivendi Visual Entertainment Retail giant Wal-Mart has put up on its website a preorder page for John Woo's cult action classic, 'The Killer', which reportedly will be released on March 30 by Vivendi Entertainment, as part of the Dragon Dynasty label. It will have audio tracks in Cantonese, Mandarin and English, and subtitles in English and Spanish. Special features will consist of behind-the-scenes featurettes and interviews.

Re: The Killer ---> 3/30/2010

Wow, my favorite movie of all time, although I did sell my Criterion DVD for $200 a couple years back, so I can be bought.

Oh, no! The Dragon Dynasty website shows it as rated G!!!

The year is also messed up (1960), but I trust the cover art.

It would be nice to have the full version, have only seen that once. Though I realize that's not his "directors cut", so hopefully we can have multiple versions. Not holding my breath though.

Dragon Dynasty should put out a full Blu-Ray special edition of Hard Boiled as well, with subtitles instead of dubtitles.

Just a personal thing I guess, but I was hoping they would have released Hard Boiled first. Both are Woo at his best though, so I'll gladly be taking this one as well. But I don't have high hopes this offering will bring us any great improvements over the previous DVD releases in the past.

It's been brought to my attention that the "Woo's masterpiece" quote on the front cover was taken from my old review of the John Woo Collection import DVD set.

You won't feel so proud when it turns out to be a 480i upconvert with DD audio and botched subtitles

If the violence only gets it a 'G' rating these days, what does it take to get an 'R' ???

I'd love to get this, but I will wait for reviews first. DD has let us down too many times.

Well, it's not like they mention my name or anything, just the site that I no longer work for.

Besides which, they only pulled two words from the review. Honestly, if this hadn't been brought to my attention, I could have held this disc in my hands and not recognized that quote as being from something I wrote. I would've assumed that they pulled it from a more recent review of a different DVD edition.

You should have written something more identifiable, like "it's a Woosterpiece!" or "better than a live-action Hong Kong Phooey!

Hoo-hoooo!

This will replace the last non-anamorphic title in my collection.

Even if it's a crappy DVD transfer? IE dubtitles (well...the others had them too but..) and possible Zoom in?
