Re: Where The Wild Things Are - 3/2/10
My copy of The Final Destination has a DVD/DC disc - both on one disc - bought in Canada...and the case for Wild Things indicates it should have this configuration as well.

No, the image doesn't have problems like those, it's just kinda drab - it was a little like that in the theater, but yet more vivid than the blu-ray is.

For example, if you look that screenshot where Max is standing on the table, it's quite obvious there's a lot of digital chromatic noise present, and also what looks like very coarse color subsampling. It's especially noticeable on the kitchen cabinets. There's definitely something wrong with the Blu-Ray transfer that's not the fault of the filming conditions or the "intended look" of the film.

I recently saw the film theatrically and to my eye it looked nowhere as drab as those DVDBeaver screencaps.

As for the complaints about being "drab," check your calibration. This disc looks excellent.

After this being sold out everywhere for the past few days, I finally found a copy at Hastings for $22.99 + a free copy of the book.

^Yeah, I can't find it anywhere... I wonder if sales are that good, or just small shipments... Is the slipcover art different from cover art?

The Best Buy where I live was sold out as well, but Target had plenty. No slipcover, but there's a sticker that says it has the DVD and digital copy.
For some reason, Target had all of their Blu-ray copies in security cases, but not the DVDs. no other Blu-rays that I saw were in security cases.

Id wager small shipment based on stores in my area. When it came out, most stores here only had a short stack available on the shelves
