The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread

If they had to do that (with Freaks & Geeks) to subsidize the 101 other things they license and put out that sell in pitiful numbers- that's fine by me. I understand why an original purchaser might be annoyed- but you did get to enjoy that release, and have pride of ownership of something rare and unique, for several years. Resale value may have taken a hit, but nothing changes the fact you still own a definitive version of the product.
The fact that they released F&G at all, considering how complex the licensing issues were and the fact the studio that owned it couldn't be bothered going to the trouble, means they get cut a lot of slack from me.
One of my favorite companies out there, and I hope they have a long happy life licensing plenty more cool stuff.

I've been making my way through the Corman/New World bio Mindwarp, and I've come across a few titles I'd like to see in HD: Unholy Rollers, The Arena, Caged Heat and Hollywood Blvd. A couple more reviews:
Blu-ray.com on Forbidden World and Galaxy of Terror
Blu-ray.com on Forbidden World and Galaxy of Terror

I think Cliff has mentioned (on another board) that the current BDs were not selling very well (hence why we are not getting Slumber Party Masaccare). Piranha should sell well with the obvious tie-in to the remake though.

Damn I can't wait to get these 2 Corman titles this week. I pre-ordered them at DVD Empire for $18 a piece but they haven't even shipped yet. Usually they ship stuff early, guess not this time.

Vendor sample in this case. They are really generous in that regard. Will be checking out Humanoids From the Deep later tonite!
Can I ask what your beef is with them Gizmo? (not looking to be argumentative, just curious--they seem to get universal kudos around here)

Glad to be seeing from reviews that Piranha, Galaxy Of Terror, & Forbidden World all have lossless audio, which means I plan on purchasing them.

Damn it, called DVD empire about my order, & they said they haven't even gotten the Corman Blu-Rays in yet, said they don't know when they will get there. They've been good in the past sending stuff early to me, so I guess I can't complain. I just really felt like watching these now.

I thought it looked pretty good, and clean. I am not a super stickler for PQ though so a more educated viewer might pick out some flaws which went right by me.
For some point of reference, I do think all the Corman BRs have looked pretty good (though I haven't watched R n R High School yet), with Forbidden Planet being a standout IMO. I remember thinking that one looked excellent, outside of the cheese sfx space fight that starts it.

Not a national chain, but the Newbury Comics regional chain has both Galaxy of Terror and Forbidden World in stock - in Natick (I only say this because their stock varies store to store).
Each are also available for a limited time sale price of $19.99 a piece. Wish I knew about this before my pre-order. This is one thing that sucks about Newbury Comics.

well, Galaxy is on its way and pre-ordered Humanoids and Piranha (DVD) for the cool ass slipcover
will probably do a triple feature when they all come in.

I thought maybe I read that wrong. That is just sad, especially given the care that goes into these Corman HD transfers.
