My Elite is still chugging along. Probably not for long now that I jinxed it. It is slow to load, but no problems.

Just announced... Pumpkinhead and the sequel everyone's been waiting for Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings!

I, admittedly, have a soft spot for the sequel because I grew up watching bad '90s horror films.

^ beat me to it!

**SURPRISE! NEW TITLE ANNOUNCEMENTS**

Stan Winston’s 1988 monster film PUMPKINHEAD (one of our most highly-requested titles) will be coming to the ‘factory’ on Blu-ray for the first time this September! And…its 1993’s sequel PUMPKINHEAD II: BLOOD WINGS will be released on the same date too!

We announced these on the latest episode of “Choice Cuts” over at Shock Till You Drop. Check out the full episode where we also talk at length about our process, titles and more @ http://...bit.ly/1ha5vkW

PUMPKINHEAD will be a “Collector’s Edition” (in fact, artwork is just about done) and PUMPKINHEAD II will be its own separate release. No further details to report at this time but we'll keep you posted on developments during our “Summer of Fear”.

Happy Friday!

Pumpkinhead was the first true horror movie and second R-rated movie that I saw. Hope they do a knockout job with it.

Of course they announce this right after I buy the collector's edition DVD of Pumpkinhead since it wasn't on Blu-ray.

Oh well. Can't even be mad. It's a damn fine DVD, and September is a long way off.

I've never seen Pumpkinhead II and I have no interest in buying it as a separate release, but I would gladly watch it if they packed it together with the first one.

I dunno about the Pumpkinhead releases. I seem to remember the films as being pretty bad, and not in a so bad they're entertaining way either. Might have to revisit at least the first film again.

Plenty of people will leap up to defend the first one, but the sequels...?

I think this quote from Lance Henriksen's book sums it up pretty well:

They were gonna have a Q&A at the end of the third Pumpkinhead, but I got down on the floor and I crawled out. When the lights came up, they said, "Well, we have Lance... Lance?... Where's Lance?" And my agent was laughing because he'd seen me crawl out. That was fucking embarrassing... but I just wanted to get the fuck out, because I knew that the director was gonna get up and ... talk about this movie that I didn't care about, and I didn't want to humiliate the memory of the original Pumpkinhead by getting up there and waxing eloquent about bullshit. I mean, look at the situation: I'm a ghost of what was originally there. Why would I want to get up and say, "I'll tell you what it feels like to be a ghost of the original. This is a piece of shit." I didn't want to say that. I'd rather get out and let them have their little party... When people bring up those Pumpkinhead sequels, it's like saying, "You know what you did when you were drunk last night?" That's what it feels like.

Lance has been in so many bad movies that he must wear out a lot of pants from all that crawling.

I've never seen Pumpkinhead, and would like to see it, but that's one problem with Scream's pricing, they don't lend themselves to blind buying =/

If there's a title of theirs worth blind buying, it's Pumpkinhead.

I'm definitely in for Pumpkinhead. It's the main title I've wanted Scream to release for almost two years now...

I watched a few of the sequels for the Halloween challenges we have. Of those that I watched, Pumpkinhead Meets The Hatfields & McCoys was my favorite. But I don't know which numbered sequel that was

I bought the Pumpkinhead 2007 MGM special edition DVD and I still haven't seen it. Guess I have to watch it asap to see if the Shout Factory version is worth it.

Any firm street date yet on Night breed: The Cabal Cut?

Last I heard on Cabal was early 2015, I think.

That was #4, which is the only sequel I've seen. I vaguely recall it being perfectly watchable but utterly unremarkable. It felt like one of those Hellraiser sequels where they had an unrelated script lying around, inserted the series villain, and slapped the title on it. I suspect it was intended to be a pretty standard movie about the Hatfields and the McCoys, albeit maybe a sort of horror movie version, and someone realized that more people would watch it if they stuck Pumpkinhead and Lance Henriksen in a few scenes. It's not completely atrocious; it's just a waste of time.

That Lance book is hilariously blunt, funny, and honest. Lance doesn't mince words in real life.

re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread

The Dog Soldiers Blu-Ray has been removed from Scream Factory's release schedule.

From their Facebook Page:
Sorry guys but there’s been a change of plans for our upcoming Collector’s Edition release of DOG SOLDIERS that we need to make you aware of…

Due to unforeseen issues on clear ownership of the rights, we are forced to move the title off of its planned August 26th release.
Rest assured, we are doing everything we can to work out a solution to bring this back into our scary fold but, as of now, the street date is undetermined and there is a strong possibility of it moving to early 2015.

Damn. Glad I didn't get rid of my current BD yet. I hope they get it worked out because the audio on the current BD sucks and the picture quality could definitely be improved upon.

re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread

Think the initial announcement of this title got lost in the shuffle in the last few pages, but Blu-Ray.com listed the specs of the upcoming Southern Comfort disc:

For the lazy:
NEW High Definition Transfer
Making of Southern Comfort - featuring new interviews with director/writer Walter Hill, producer/writer David Giler and actors Keith Carradine, Powers Boothe, Peter Coyote and Lewis Smith
Theatrical Trailer
Still Gallery
I have the Second Sight Region-B disc and am relatively happy with it, so I'll pass on this, though a new video transfer intrigues me; it was pretty solid on the Second Sight, but there was definitely room for improvement.

I hope that isn't the final cover. Seeing as they didn't manage to correctly spell Powers Boothe.

never seen the film but I love me some Powers Boothe and Keith Carradine.

I just finished watching Dead Shadows. It is easily the worst film that Scream Factory has released.

How do these guys choose what to release? Do customers get to chime in and they consider the suggestions they get? I ask because I'd love for them to release Dellamorte, Dellamore on BD.
