Both discs also include alternate versions of the movies. For Exorcist II, it's a shorter home video edit (cut by John Boorman himself) that removes some of the most laughable parts. For Exorcist III, it's a reconstruction (from VHS dailies, unfortunately) of William Peter Blatty's director's cut.
Good to know. Their price is still ridiculous though.

I do have Trick R Treat and the WB disc is fine as is.

I believe Warner supplied the new remasters for Exorcist II. (At least, that's been the case for the other Warner titles that Scream Factory has licensed.) At least Warner got it right eventually!

I don't get why it's price so high. It's not even a deluxe edition with other trinkets.

and Shout did mention on their Facebook page recently that they've been having issues with the pressing of their discs and that's why they've been delayed shipping to many. I think they said one of their main pressing plants closed recently.
Apparently there are dropout issues that are being discovered now on the 5.1 track. I'm definitely waiting until they issue replacements and it's on sale. I'm not in a rush.

I heard the issue on the 5.1 is that the pitch sounds higher. I am still waiting on mine that was ordered on day one, so I wouldn't be able to speak from firsthand experience.

It's possible. The packaging and press release only state: "New 2K Scan of Both Cuts from the Original Film Elements." It doesn't say who performed the scan.

Exorcist III had similar wording.

Is there a note on the interior? Like this one from Of Unknown Origin:

I've come across a couple of reviews that reference something similar for Exorcist II, so I thought a message like that may be hidden somewhere.

It was definitely MPI that did the new transfers.

OK, yup, I found that note in small print on the Exorcist II packaging. None on Exorcist III, though.

Here's the thing, though. The Exorcist II note specifically says it's a 2k scan "from the original camera negative," but in one of the commentaries the speaker says the camera negative couldn't be used for the transfer.

Even though the Scream disc is a lot better than the old Warner Blu-ray, it still doesn't look particularly great. I wouldn't peg it as being sourced from the OCN. Looks like it's still a couple generations away from that.

Via Facebook

First and foremost, we are sorry.

Our customers and fans have been experiencing late shipments, damaged shipments and slow customer service responses. It is not the level of service that we have delivered in the past and that you have come to expect. We can--and will--do better moving forward.

We have heard you and empathize with your frustration. We take this very seriously.

Here are the steps we are taking:

1) We have hired four additional customer service staff members with the goal of reducing email response times to less than 48 hours in the next 8-10 working days.
2) We are working with our warehouse to increase the number of quality control checks to be sure your products arrive undamaged.
3) We are also working with our manufacturing partner to get accurate, title-specific delivery forecasts, which we will then communicate to you as soon as possible.
4) Product delivery updates will be available on the product pages as we go forward. If you only need to know if we are actively shipping a title you will not have to wait for a response from customer service.

While we are working hard to prevent delays and damage going forward, there is a chance that your order may not reach you by the date you were expecting it and we all know that damage can occur during shipment. If you would like to cancel your delayed order or pre-order, we completely understand. But please stick with us if you can. We promise you that we are doing everything in our power to get it to you as quickly and in the best condition possible.

If you have already emailed us about a delay or other concern and have not yet received a reply, please know that we are responding to emails in the order received and will get back to you as quickly as possible. We have the capacity to get through about 350 emails a day right now and we are anxious to clear the backlog.

We appreciate your patience. We have more exciting titles lined up for 2019 (some which we’ll be announcing soon) and your support and enthusiasm for them is something we don’t take for granted.

From all of us here at Shout! Factory, thank you! We hope you have a fun and safe Halloween.

Yeah, they are apparently being assholes and not letting retailers sell their products, opting instead to sell directly to consumers, but lack the staff and infrastructure to handle the job.

Shout has been disappointing lately, I usually wait and compare reviews before I decide, but I pulled the trigger on Arrows release of Candyman months ago.

Many smaller media labels are going more and more direct to the consumer, cutting out middlemen like Amazon. I think it may be the only way many of them stay in business as the physical home video market shrinks and retail collapses.

Yes, it may be Halloween but we're serving up bloody hearts instead of candy corn today with the announcement of the 2000 slasher film VALENTINE (from Urban Legend Director Jamie Blanks). Coming soon to Blu-ray from us on February 12th.

This is being planned as a Collector's Edition that will come with a slipcover in its first three months of release. The fantastic new key art illustration you see pictured is from artist Devon Whitehead (Trick r Treat, Sleepwalkers). Extras and specs are in progress and will be announced at a later date.

Pre-order links will be going up soon and throughout next month.

Valentine wasn’t great, but it did have a lot of hot women in the cast.

Can’t believe it’s 17 years old now.

Shout lists this as only having the Japanese audio tracks. This is a rare occasion where I want the English dubs too! Hope they get included

re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread

Interesting video about how Shout is fucking playing games and jacking up prices. Starts around the 18 minute mark, but the main point is around 22.

Essentially, Shout is forcing sellers to raise the prices on their titles $7 or more than what they normally sold them for or they will tell distributors to no longer sell Shout/Scream titles to the seller.

So Shout wants to be Twilight Time without the limited runs?
