So, I'm new to MoC. I bought the Metropolis disc just because the packaging was great. I'm disappointed the Blu-Ray is region-locked, but I imagine someday I'll have an R0 Blu-Ray player. In any case, is MoC on the level of Criterion, in terms of great extras, great picture, just based in the UK with a smaller output?

MoC also has superior packaging to Criterion - bigger booklets and better cover art. Many of their Blu-rays are region-free. If you check the first post in this thread, there's a region guide at the bottom. MoC's Nick Wrigley (Peerpee on the Criterion Forum) has often stated that, if it were up to them, all of their releases would be region-free. Kino were the ones who insisted that Metropolis be locked.

Re: The Official Masters of Cinema Blu-ray Thread
Droidguy, I don't have a region free BD player either but there are some programs that can exploit a computer BD-ROM drive to change regions. BD Region Tray Tool is a free program that can change regions for people using Power DVD or Total Media Theater without reducing the number of region changes allowed on the drive. My computer is hooked up to my home theater via HDMI. I presently only own 2 region B titles, Mulholland Drive and MOC's Make Way for Tomorrow, with Metropolis on the way, but BD Region Tray Tool allows me to watch watch them via my PC. Hope this helps you.

From MoC's Twitter page:
Excellent! Nick said they're supposed to be announcing one more Blu-ray for March, so stay tuned...
we're releasing Michelangelo Antonioni's LE AMICHE [The Girlfriends] (1955) on Blu-ray and DVD in March 2011.
