I paid $12.50 for this (approximately) from WBShop during their last sale. Waiting for this and "Observe & Report" to ship, but "North By Northwest" is holding them up until November.

I want to see a DVD Beaver compare of the DVD to BD to see which I want. Right now there aren't any reviews of the discs (at least TrueHD is confirmed).

Warner hasn't sent any out, at least not yet. Gizmo reports that it's a different PR firm that handles their direct-to-video releases. Guess they opted against the whole "publicity" part of the PR thing.

Re: Trick 'r Treat - October 6th!

I am hoping Blockbuster gets this in on blu-ray (or at least DVD), as I'd love to rent it before deciding if I want to buy it or not.

The cover art for this is awesome. I thought it was gonna be the same as the slipcover, but it isn't.

Re: Trick 'r Treat - October 6th!

A review copy came to my house yesterday... on DVD.

Think I might try to exchange it somewhere for the BD. It's still sealed and not marked as a promo. I need to watch this again tonight. It's been a year since I saw it last.

I want to buy this so bad today after waiting forever to see it, but I just have this bad feeling that somebody will have this on sale in the next 2-3 weeks for $19.99 or less.

Re: Trick 'r Treat - October 6th!

Has anyone entered their digital copy code into the Buy 5 Get 1 Free website yet? It keeps saying my code is invalid, but I'm definitely entering it correctly. I'm wondering whether maybe they just haven't been activated yet.

IMHO no... it was clever but not worth a blind buy... $10-15 maybe but I just don't see myself watching it ever again.

Re: Trick 'r Treat - October 6th!

I had been dying to see this, rented the blu-ray today... pretty disappointed in the movie and really glad I didn't blind buy it. Some great moments here and there, but as a whole, it's kind of a mess and wasn't nearly as scary/fun/funny as I was hoping it'd be.

That's kind of how I felt, too. I watched it tonight and I am glad I didn't blind buy it (if it hadn't come today from Netflix, I would have). Honestly, after all the internet hype, there's no way it could have lived up to my expectations.

That said, I definitely enjoyed watching it. It's a nice little tribute to all that's funny or scary about Halloween. Sure, it's not ridiculously scary or funny, but it's enjoyable for the short period it's on.

I didn't bother with the features, but the picture quality on the Blu-ray wasn't amazing. While competent, the whole thing seemed a little soft and I suspect some DNR was used, as faces had a waxy look to them. The average bit rate was also pretty low, about 15.

That said, rent it and enjoy it is my verdict.

I just tried it, and I'm having the same problem. Sent them an email through the contact form. Hopefully they'll get it fixed.

Same problem here. I'm guessing they screwed up the codes as I noticed the digital copy code on the other side of the sheet is exactly the same. The website also mentioned something about letters usually being lowercase, whereas the code had all uppercase. I'm betting they accidentally printed the dig-copy code in both places. Oops!

I also sent an email...hopefully it will be fixed up soon.

The B5G1 code is always the same as the digital copy code.

Did anyone else who bought the film think this as well?

I would hate to shell out $25-28 bucks for sub-par PQ on a film like this.

Re: Trick 'r Treat - October 6th!

I thought it looked pretty good. The entire movie takes place at night and almost every scene is bathed in darkness so it really doesn't allow for too much sharp detail in the first place.
