Mine did not come in a plastic case. Ordered 6/11.
However, Criterion is still shipping the replacement case for $5, if you are interested.

Apparently this is supposed to be the artwork for TTR:

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of it either. I was expecting a beautiful moody shot from a distance... not a close up of someone's face. And I agree about the font. I hope they make changes - not that it would stop me from purchasing it.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
So I placed an order for Man Who Fell To Earth with DDD a few weeks back and it sat in Backorder since then. I started getting worried so I placed a second order with Amazon thinking I'd cancel one after the other shipped.
They both shipped today. An hour apart from each other.
Sigh.
Now I wait and see which version of the case I get. Hoping at least one of them is plastic.

Man Who Fell To Earth came today, via amazon, w/ the digipack cardboard. Did CC never just put them in cases themselves?

Long rumored, nice to see it confirmed. I never got the RHV edition, as it had no English subs. Too bad about Peter Brunette, he knew Italian cinema inside and out.

I didn't hate the cardboard cases like a lot of people, but I absolutely love the clear cases they're using now.
If I could buy them in bulk (preferably in thinner versions), I'd replace ALL of the ugly blue cases I have. I haven't bothered to see if anyone sells them, though.
edit: looks like the cases come from Scanavo (model number CBR 101), but they're not listed on the Scanavo.com website, which makes me assume that they are custom made solely for Criterion. I'm tempted to contact Scanavo and see if they'd produce a "normal thickness" version... but I wouldn't be able to afford a large enough order to make it cost-effective. I can dream, though...

They also said, if I want more, I can order them for $0.48/each.
Anyone interested in a bulk purchase with me? I'm betting that, if I order enough, they'll ship them in batches wherever I want, since they have a warehouse in the US.

So... I contacted Scanavo. They have an office in my home town. They're giving me 50 of the clear criterion cases free of charge.
