Yes! Definitely in my top five films. It's majestic. It doesn't say, but I hope it comes with both the theatrical and directors cuts... It looks like it also comes with a paperback of the novel, which is awesome.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Picnic at Hanging Rock and A Hard Day's Night in the same month? I may have to change my position regarding the existence of god, because that's miraculous!
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Not really a fan of the A Hard Day's Night cover. They should of used something closer to what the album cover looks like. I'll pick this up eventually though.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
PICNIC, HARD DAY'S NIGHT, and ALL THAT HEAVEN ALLOWS for me
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I do wish there were more new titles (only two this month - and last month), but all the upgrades are favorites that I don't already own on DVD, so I won't complain. It'll be especially great to see All That Heaven Allows on BD - plus all the deleted material from Hearts and Minds.
The only one I won't be picking up is L'eclisse, since I'm holding off for a trilogy box set at some point in the future. |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
nice release slate!

Yeah, I've heard that no good print of AR exists, and of the ones that do, they're beyond repair required to make an acceptable HD master.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I was wondering lately if there's any way to reference which Criterion sets (DVD and Blu) came with books, as in the novel the movie was based on? I've got The Man Who Fell to Earth and The Complete Mr. Arkadin and I thought this would make a nice little subset to collect.
I think there's also Vampyr and now Picnic? |

Don't know about the Blu, but the DVD of Rashomon has English translations of the short stories upon which the film was based in the booklet.
