Drunk posting in the Criterion Collection thread. That's quite http://i47.tinypic.com/r1zlo2.gif of you.

Normally I would have never posted anything but that comment freaked me out, and I was glad to see that he was wrong so I had to make sure everyone else knew that it wasn't true haha.

There have been other mentions of this title as well over the last few months, but obviously nothing concrete. As far as supplementary materials, there is potentially a treasure-trove. In his fascinating book Heaven and Hell to Play With: The Filming of "The Night of the Hunter", Preston Neal describes the extensive surviving outtakes from the film in detail, so those could certainly be included, as well as the original introduction, narrated by Charles Laughton. Possibly some or all of these would have been part of the postponed (and now presumably shelved) MGM 2-disc SE.

Badlands! Holy crap!

Yeah. Ive also seen rumours of Thin Red Line on Criterion as well. Would be awesome if true.

I would buy all four of those rumored titles. Badlands makes sense, given the Days of Heaven disc.

Holy fuck....I'd love for this bitch to be packed with as many deleted scenes as possible. And whatever version that Malick is content with honestly. Theatrical or that long one I hear about.

I'd just be happy for a Thin Red Line release on BD. Don't care if it's Criterion or Fox and I don't care if it's barebones

Looking forward to that one too, tho I'd rather wait another yr or two if we get a CC release.

So how many BD's does Criterion release a yr? Seems like we're getting more announcements now.. or maybe I"m just paying closer attention.

Anyone know of Pierrot le Fou has always been $26.96 at the Criterion store? The reason I ask is because the Criterion website says they are giving an extra $5 off all these titles that are going out of print, but the price is still $26.96 for Pierrot le Fou.

Their regular price is typically $31.99 for all $40-tier items, I believe.

Correct. The $5 off is already reflected.

Yeah, Pierrot Le Fou on Blu is gone on Amazon and LOOKS like they still have DVDs of it too. God, I love DVDtalk for warning me on this stuff.

on a more positive note, The 400 Blows is for $19.99 on Amazon. It's soooo mine.

As far as I know, Criterion is still honoring all purchases made up until the end of March, so I'm not sure what the issue is unless you are really in to buying things on Amazon.

I have it in my gold box today for $18.99, but the real price is $5 higher since I know I will be compelled to order the replacement case. I'm not a fan of the earlier paper packaged Criterions.

Didn't Criterion fix that situation? Cuz I never got that issue with The Third Man OOP and (NOW) Pierrot Le Fou? Hrm....guess I'll find out Friday when I get it.

I think Amazon still has a stock of the ones that came in the paper cases. When I ordered Third Man it was right at the end and I still got it in the paper case. $18.99 is a good price so I'm still ordering it. I know I don't have to get the replacement cases, but I really like the ones they use now.

Like I said. I'll wait and see on Friday. Anyone on here order 400 Blows recently, from amazon? If so...paper case or the nice plastic case? Which did you get?

And you can expect a lot more in 2010, when you’ll become better acquainted with a slew of mythic moviemakers (Charlie Chaplin, Nicholas Ray, Sidney Lumet) and modern-day masters in the making (Pedro Costa, Andrea Arnold, Terry Zwigoff).
i got a feeling it's CRUMB.

Doesn't Crumb already have a SE? This would seem like an unlikely candidate for Blu-ray either way.

It's also been mentioned elsewhere that it's known that Criterion has the rights to Zwigoff's first film, "Louie Bluie."

I got mine today too in the paper packaging. You send them $5 through paypal with your mailing address and the case you want and they will send you the replacement case. Still waiting for my second try at the Third Man replacement case.

I can't wait for this one. I sold my old set so its under $15 for the new set for me total cost. Most Criterions I can wait out a sale for, but not this set.

I'm holding off on almost all BDs and DVDs save for Kurosawa, so I am extremely pumped for this come a few weeks for now, especially with these caps! Hopefully I'll have a small get together to celebrate Kurosawa's 100th!
