No, I don't think an extended cut of this movie has ever been released.

There is no extended cut of the movie. In the commentary, Carpenter describes how he ruthlessly edited the film to keep the pacing snappy. He really didn't want the movie to drag on for longer than needed. Aside from the tacked-on prologue that the studio forced him to add, the theatrical cut is what he wanted from the movie.

I dunno, I've seen this movie a few times, and think 99 minutes is just about right. More is not always better.

^ Exactly. Fuck any sort of extended cut. It's likely Carpenter wouldn't have endorsed it anyways. The film has existed as the theatrical cut for all of this time; an extended cut would do nothing to enhance the experience of watching it.

This BD is fuckin' sweet. Awesome PQ/AQ and the extras are in 1080p. Consider me VERY happy and anyone who wouldn't part with $20 for this release is a retard.

I've decided to wait til the $15 mark. You're bullying peer pressure will not work on me.

Re: Big Trouble in Little China >>> 8/4/09

I know many don't want to pay day 1 prices for catalogs, and even if I felt the same, this title would be an exception. I mean it's BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA!!!

Now if it got a lame BD-25 8-year old source type of release I'd say screw it and wait, but they did a fine job on this. It's worth $20 to me.

Personally I never have a problem spending $20 or more on a catalog title if it's one of my favorites. I don't see why catalog titles should have less value in the eyes of a collector - if anything they have more for me. Most new releases wind up being forgettable so why are they worth more than BTILC?

Anyway, I truly do hope this hits $15 or less soon for those who wanted because this one deserves to be owned by all BD collectors.

Mod Note: I'm not going to treat that as a personal attack, since it's not aimed at anyone in particular, but there's definitely nicer ways to say that the BD is a good deal for $20.

Damn, so am I usually. I'm always correcting peoples' "your" when it should be "you're" so often, that I've got myself typing "you're" when I shouldn't be.

Karma must have a beef with so many because we all share the secret of how to nab free ICEE's at our pleasure. I knew the jealousy would eventually
