Really impressed with the PQ/AQ of this disc and the movie is still fun as hell.... definitely worth the $20.

Just looked at the first 30 minutes and I was bowled over. Looks and sounds great. Need to find more time to finish this.

I've finished it twice already since yesterday.

Great presentation.

So glad I got this. One of my favorite movies. Always puts a big ol' smile on my face. Can't wait to check out the PQ.

Good thing I have a few empty blu-ray cases lying around - these "environment-friendly" cases with all the holes in them are so lame.

The irony is that if they gave me a regular case, I wouldn't be trowing anything away to end up in a landfill, but this cheap piece of crap case went right into the trash.

I grabbed a copy at Fry's for $19.97 which was better than the Amazon price since I have to pay sales tax either way. Can't wait to watch it tonight!

Not necessarily. Some movies sound crappy no matter what. It’s great to read that an older film can sound so good.

Oh yeah - they come in all shapes and sizes!

All we need is for videogames to start showing up in these...

So this comes in one of those? Great.

You guys crack me up. The Eco-Friendly cases are completely innocuous. If I hadn't heard everyone here bitching so much about them, I never would have even noticed. They in no way affect how the movie is kept.

Re: Big Trouble in Little China >>> 8/4/09

$20.00 is a little steep for a catalog title. I'll wait for a price reduction for $14.99 in the next few weeks from Amazon, or a third party seller. I don't necessarily have to buy a Blu-ray during the first week of its release.

I'm with you. $14.99 has become my magic price point for pretty much every single disc Blu-ray (not counting digital copies).

No, but they affect how the cover insert is supported. I've seen so many punctured back covers due to lack of reinforcement behind the paper.

Re: Big Trouble in Little China >>> 8/4/09

Now this is what an '80s movie is supposed to look like on Blu-ray! The picture may not be razor sharp, but it has loads of detail, a clean source, appropriate grain levels, and no contrast boosting or other digital manipulations. With a proper transfer, the SFX blend with the live action really well, and actually look great.

This is what Ghostbusters should have looked like, instead of the crappy over-enhanced transfer we got.

This is above and beyond one of the best (if not the best) 80's BD's I own in terms of Audio/Video quality. They did nothing short of stunning on this cult classic of a movie on Blu. Very highly recommended. Well worth the $20 for a catalog title. Bravo.

I watched this last night and was impressed. I would describe it as a very 'clean transfer'. One of the better looking films from the 80s so far.
