That was the first and last time. I was never one much for extras to begin with, however I always loved SPR and felt I should own the best most deluxe version out there. That bit me in the ass as it was not a better version. Now I am pretty diligent, although I have purchased a couple sub-par BD's, for the most part they have been upgrades and I haven't worried about which extras were ported over.

So does anyone know if it's worth the extra couple bucks to buy it at Target?

Re: Quantum of Solace - 3/24/09

I rented this a few days ago and it looked/sounded amazing. Unless the eventual double dip includes some director created (and not simply patched together) extended cut, I wont even consider getting it.

By the way, a little warning. When you hear the MGM logo you'll be tempted to raise the volume way louder than you would any DTS (or even DD) track. Resist that temptation. I'm glad I did and you'll be glad you did too.

really? usually it's the opposite, the MGM Logo audio snippet is so loud and abrasive, it scares the crap out of you.

I've been reminding myself all morning that I didn't really like this movie...because I've been tempted to rush out and buy it anyhow... I keep telling myself to wait to get it used...but not sure if I can hold out...

I'm tempted as well (though I haven't seen the film yet), but I just can't bring myself to spend more than ~$10 per new Blu-ray ... I think the cheapest this can be had for is $20 ... pondering it now ...

I know. Which is why it surprised me at first. I usually listen to DD track at -10 and DTS tracks at -15 on my Onkyo 705. When the MGM logo began I immediately looked at my receiver cos it sounded as if I left it at -30 or close to it. Then I recalled that it might have been like that in theatres. Then the Columbia logo began sans music but I heard (or rather felt) a low rumble coming from my sub. So I decided to wait it out and, sure enough, once the logos vanished that audio cranked up on its own (not abruptly but a quick gradual change) and I was in heaven from the car chase onward.

The audio is loads better than Casino Royale which seemed to simply be loud, louder, and loudest but no real quality audio. The audio on Quantum Of Solace is loud and punchy but it also feels more nuanced and the individual sound elements much more natural. If not reference, darn close to it.

Well I didnt buy Casino Royale since I had the SD version and was waiting for a good sale on it. Well I bit on the deal with Best Buy and bought Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale on BD for $14 and some change(had a $20 gift card from Xmas ). QoS was a good movie but I still think CR was better. I'll get to watch it on Wednesday night , I'm glad it's in DTS/MA

I liked it less than Casino Royale. But given the complete fluff that are the extras, I'm positive a double dip is in the cards, so I'm going to wait. If I absolutely feel the need to get it, I'll get it used for much less.

Am I the only one that got the shitty blu-ray case for Quantum of Solace? It's like they tried to save plastic so there are huge gaps on the front and back of the case.

I got the Best Buy set and my QOS was normal but the other two were the "eco" cases.

The worst part of these cases is that everytime you take the disc out, it puts an indention on the back cover art.

Didn't even know those cruddy "Eco" cases existed. Bought "The Punisher (2004)" tonight and it was in one of those cases.

Also I caved in and bought Quantum today. Bah!

Re: Quantum of Solace - 3/24/09

Whoa. So that's what you guys're talking about. I though they were like regular cases only more bendy. Those downright suck. Glad my Quantum Of Solace BD came in a regular case.

I'm all for recycling but those cases are terrible.

Re: Quantum of Solace - 3/24/09

These "Eco" cases sound like they're becoming quite the nuisance. I was hoping that the release of Silence of the Lambs would spell the beginning and end of these shitty things. The funny and sad thing is that instead of being environmentally sound they will just cause people to buy replacement cases therefore doubling the case to movie ratio. What are they going to start doing next? Making Trojans thinner to conserve latex?

I was iffy on "Quantum" the first time I saw it in the theater, but I liked it a lot more when I watched it right after "Casino Royale."

Re: Quantum of Solace - 3/24/09

I got my QoS in one of those "Eco" Blu-ray cases - I'm not a huge stickler for packaging, but these are flimsy shitty things.

The irony is that I put the disc in a normal spare case I had and threw away the "eco" case, which will end up in a landfill soon - if they would've just used a regular case, it would be on my shelf (for years), instead of harming the environment in a land-fill. idiots...

Re: Quantum of Solace - 3/24/09

Anyone have an info on what other recent releases have come in these Eco cases? I haven't opened my Watchmen or Punisher: War Zone discs yet, and am now getting paranoid ...

Actually, has this type of packaging even made in North of the border?

It seems to be random - you can feel if it is or not by pressing on the case before you buy.

My Quantum of Solace from Amazon came in a normal case. Also had the $5 coupon off other Bond movies.

Of interest is the possibility that he might include a scene where Bond introduces himself as "Bond. James bond".
Well, the fact that Bond was originally meant to say "Bond. James Bond" at the end (just like Casino Royale) was a bit of a surprise.
