In the Valley of Elah - Great film, and wonderful performances pretty much all throughout. I've seen a lot of Charlize Theron's films for the first time lately, and she is amazing.

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb - First Kubrick I've been disappointed in. I guess just not my kind of comedy.

Funny People - Literally the first Adam Sandler movie I ever watched all the way through. I couldn't get past my loathing of him, I would have really enjoyed the movie if not for him. Aside from being the least funniest person in film, he is a horrid actor. I just cringed watching him try to act in some scenes. I enjoyed every other person in the cast though. The Eminem scene was really funny. Excellent PQ.

Over the past three days I've been watching The Matrix Trilogy on HD DVD. I forgot how good the first one looks and sounds.
The sequels are a touch soft by comparison and the audio of the third doesn't have much dynamics and tends to overcompensate with loads of bass.

Wizard of Oz Rental just to check out the restoration. Beautiful transfer on a 70 year old movie. I'll probably grab this at some point just for the reference quality

Yesterday, my wife and I watched Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Historically, I can nitpick the movie and while part of me thinks Pierce Brosnan should have had the titular role, I can't help but love it. Alan Rickman's Sheriff of Nottingham is one of my all-time favorite performances, and I love that they restored some cut scenes featuring him. Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman have great chemistry, and Michael Kamen's score is up there with James Horner's Glory in my opinion.

Land Of The Lost I was too old for the cartoons so I had no idea what to expect other than the terrible reviews I had heard. Enjoyable enough as a rental but I wouldn't want to have spent $9.50 to see it. A few good Will Ferrell goofball moments and Anna Friel is very hot. Had to watch Timeline after that. Would love to have Timeline on Blu-ray

History Of Violence I had seen this a rental and liked it enough that recently when I picked up a few $9.99 titles from Amazon I threw this on the order. For $10 it's an OK keeper. I always liked Maria Bello who shows skin and sex in this movie which is a bonus.

Monsters, Inc. - Can't believe I waited this long to finally see this film, as I'm a sucker for animation, anything Disney, and monster movies. Loved it!

Finally saw Up. The Blu-Ray looked fantastic, but I was almost more surprised how good the DVD looked upscaled. Very nice transfers, both.

Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant - Blind buy. It looked fun, and it mostly was except for the fact that so much of it was a set-up for the sequel that'll never happen. Lead kid actor wasn't so great, but Reilly made it watchable. Solid PQ, unimpressive, but solid, AQ.
Black Dynamite - One of my top 5 of '09, the BD is as fantastic as the film.

Just watched Johnny To's Mad Detective. Small, but interesting story - it doesn't go exactly where you expect it to, but then, you don't really have too many expectations.
I liked the first half a lot, by comparison, the second half doesn't measure up because it was more about tying up the, frankly, uninteresting plot, while the stars of the show are the characters and the concept.
The MoC blu-ray looks fab, the sound wasn't too impressive though.

Mad Detective wasn't as good as it could have been but I still thought it was great.
Anyway, Just finished watching the vastly under-rated and extremely fun Jennifer's Body for the first time. It's creepy, funny, and has both solid writing and direction. I had an awesome time watching this tonight. With so little time lately to watch the number of movies I like it was nice to view something as surprisingly good as this was.
