Under Siege. I received it for Christmas. It is a guilty pleasure.

A Christmas Story, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, and Whatever Works. All three were excellent.

District 9 - An extremely close second for my favorite of 2009, the BD is fantastic. PQ is just about as good as it gets, and the AQ is some of the best I've heard all year.

Wallace & Gromit - The Complete Collection - Love this Blu-Ray so much. One of my most watched that I own. Wish the featurettes were in HD though.

On vacation at my folks and putting their 52" Samsung 120Hz LCD and high-def players (I bought them a Toshiba HD-DVD player two years ago and they just got a Christmas-gift-to-themselves Blu-ray player) to good use with some HD discs I brought along:

The 400 Blows (1959) - not a high-def showpiece, but the narrative captivated my father and led to some interesting post-movie discussion about his life as a child matching Doinel's on-screen troubles.
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) - folks were blown away, and that's just the movie itself (the visuals spoke for themselves).
Blazing Saddles (1974) - Saw this with my father and stepmother; I'd seen the movie a couple of times before but it was new to them. 30 minutes into "Blazing Saddles" my folks said they had enough and stormed out of the living room calling Mel's flick 'disgusting' and not the least bit funny. I stayed 'till the end and laughed so hard at almost everything (the finale breaking the fourth wall tries too hard and falls mostly flat compared to the previous 90 minutes) that I questioned how Brooks & Co. got away with what they did back in '74. Shoot, 35 years after it was made "Blazing Saddles" can still offend enough to force me to explain to my father and stepmom that I'm not a racist for liking a movie in which the 'n' word is freely uttered.
Night of the Creepts (1986) - fun commentary track.
Baraka (1992) - my folks were blown away by the pretty pictures/sounds and the overall sense of wonderment. Between this and "2001" my father and stepmom don't think they ever have to go to an IMAX theater anymore.
The Bourne Identity (2002) & The Bourne Supremacy (2004) - only saw the first "Bourne" movie once and haven't seen the sequels yet ("Ultimatum" is next in a few weeks). I hated Greengrass' shaky camera and the way Gilroy's script treats Franka Potente and Brian Cox's characters (combined with the idiotic flashbacks to Jason's first mission retconning Chris Cooper's role from the first movie) sucks. When there are fights and car chases "Supremacy" is as exciting as "Identity" (sucky CG stunt at the end of the latter notwithstanding) but it's amazing how much mileage and box office mojo Damon has squeezed out of such a one-dimensional role/character.
The Descent (2005) - Watched the Unrated ending for the first time and it's as good (maybe slightly less) than the U.S. theatrical ending. HD does not do favors to some green-screen scenes inside the cave, but once you're deep into the journey with the girls inside the cave character development takes over and it's a gas 'till the end(s).
Ratatouille (2007) - my cooking-obsessed stepmother loved it, my father laughed at the rat's funny antics (they're both fans of "The King of Queens" so they immediately started yelling 'that's Spence' when Remy started speaking) and I loved it because it's the prettiest thing I've ever seen on high-def using the 120Hz refresh rate of an HDTV. The colors, the artwork, the animation... just WOW! :)

To the poster above: it sounds like you had a blast watching all of those. I hope to view some of my favorite's later this week as well.

Rented Jennifer's Body from Blockbuster last night. It was the stupid rental exclusive version with the unrated version missing as well as all the special features. The movie was just OK in my book so unless the unrated version added a bunch of cool stuff I guess I wasn't missing much.

The Perfect Getaway - A perfect rental. Beautiful locations make it an excellent looking Blu-Ray showcase. I liked the movie, didn't know it was a "twist" kind of movie going in, so the twist didn't bother me, I kind of liked it. Woudn't ever watch the movie again though. Seth Bullock was really good in it, I've always loved Milla, if she was in a bikini in the movie I'd probably buy it.

District 9 as a blind buy. Disliked it quite a bit.

500 Days of Summer- Good movie. Looked good and sounded good. I wanted to listen to the commentary, but I had the Rental Exclusive that comes with nada.

Public Enemies liked the movie. PQ was good but I noticed some halo-ing. Audio was superb, probably the best, most realistic bullet sounds of any of my DVD's

Sahara and
Serenity

A couple of old standby's, both some of my first discs from both formats. We just needed a couple things the whole family likes.

I'm A Cyborg - Shouldn't be allowed to own a Blu-Ray player unless you have this movie. Vivid crisp colors, Booming & clear True HD audio & the best movie involving a mental ward since Cuckoo's Nest (& IMO far more entertaining). Another example of why Chan-Wook is the best director in the world.

Die Hard. Perhaps not the best looking film on BD but a nice step up from the DVD. Great movie too!

Air Force One A bit of a hokey movie. Requires some major suspension of disbelief. Awesome sound and excellent PQ

1 January - Tropic Thunder. First time on Blu, third time overall (once theatrically, once on DVD). They really shot in some gorgeous places, and it looked great. Our favorite Blu moment was being able to read numbers under the tick marks on Kirk Lazarus's scope vision.

Star Trek, second viewing of BD, love the movie but I'm still not impressed by the AQ and PQ.
