U-571 picked up this HD DVD way back but never watched it. Very nice upgrade over the SD. Always liked the movie.

I'm close to finishing Battlestar Galactica now. All I have left is the Series Finale and "The Plan" film. I watched several episodes over the past few weeks. I'm also trying to go through Lost all over again - and in time for the final season's premiere, and am almost done with S2 (my first viewing of the season on Blu-ray). Just a few more episodes to go with that set, and then I'll be on my way to S3 and the rest. Lastly, I watched the fourth episode of Fringe S1. I'm enjoying the show and am curious to see how it will develop.

Franklyn (2008), pretty good movie except for the last 40 seconds. Preest kinda reminded me of Rorschach from Watchmen only not as cool.

Star Trek (2009), wasn't really interested in it when it hit theaters, but the blu-ray made a believer out of me.

Wall-E First blu-ray disc to play on my system with all cylinders running. Easily a reference quality disc with a fully engaged 3-dimensional mind blowing DTS-HD soundtrack!

X Men Origins So-so movie, excellent PQ and AQ. Funny thing is the HD version makes the crappy CGI even more apparent than at the theater

Last night, my wife and I watched Run, Fatboy, Run (our first Blu-ray rental from Netflix). It was predictable, yes, but also entertaining. Disappointed by the meager selection of bonus material, though.

District 9 (2009). After the movie's initial playfulness with its clever premise/set-up warms up the audience's cockles the flick turns into an all-out assault of brains (the juxtaposition of the haves and have-nots), balls (action sequences that put "Transformers" and "Hulk" movies to shame) and heart (Wikus' longing for his wife as he undergoes a Seth Brundle-type transformation). I'm dying to see what Neil Blomkamp can accomplish with a bigger budget than $30 million and better actors than Sharlto Copley (not a slam against the guy but let's be honest, Wikus is an unlikable dork). High-def picture/sound are solid show-off demo stuff.

Alien vs Predator blu ray Fun film, does not hold a candle to Aliens, but as entertaining, if not moreso, than the films that followed Cameron's masterpiece.

Observe and Report - This is slowly becoming one of my favorite comedies ever. I love how incredibly fucked up the entire film is, and it only keeps getting worse for our (anti) hero, Ronnie. Great soundtrack, too. I dl'd it from iTunes yesterday after finding out a physical copy is apparently unavailable.

Friday The 13th (2009)

Some of the death scenes were pretty cool. Interesting setup but after that it becomes your run of the mill Modern Slasher Film.

PQ was alright. When you could actually see something it was solid, but some of the shots went from detailed to soft on and off.
