re: Last BD or 4K UHD disc you watched?
The Thing. One of the best paranoia films I've ever seen. It starts slowly and builds continuously in a sense of dread and suspense over the course of the entire film - and it all leads up to an amazing conclusion. Believe it or not this was my first time viewing it and I popped it on only as an impulse because I felt like watching something new to me and it's October. I'm thinking right now that this is a masterpiece. As a fan of Alien this was the type of horror film that fit right up my alley.

Freddy Vs Jason - Haven't seen this since it first came out in theaters. Liked it then, still like it now, if you can put aside the attrocious CGI it's good nonsensical fun. Audio is really good, PQ is nothing special but a vast upgrade I would imagine to the DVD.

Decided to take a break from horror and popped in Sunrise. The Czech print is stunning - the level of detail was breathtaking. I had seen screencaps, but was still blown away by what I watched. Unfortunately, there are several missing frames, which was distracting. I'll have to watch the complete Movietone print next.

Trick R' Treat
Easily my most anticipated Horror Film to come out in a long time. I know the reaction has been mixed on these boards, but the film lived up to all my expectations. PQ was solid. |

I love it, I've seen a lot of hate for it here. I think it perfectly succeeds in everything it was trying to be.

There is? hmm - I've only read the really negative views on O&R in this thread.

re: Last BD or 4K UHD disc you watched?
I liked Observe and Report a good deal.
But then, I also liked Fired Up! and Land of the Lost (2009) so what does that say of me? Land of the Lost - Looked solid (though I didn't have light control on my projection room at the time) and I enjoyed it a great deal. Silly as fuck, but I think all the bad press made it that much better. |

Ghostbusters-PQ was ok but the audio is phenomenal. when they first kick over the proton packs...just wow!

High Crimes - Another paint-by-numbers Ashley Judd "thriller". Yawn.

Land of the Lost. I decided to Netflix this to watch it again right now - I'm not planning to pick it up until it's $15 or less. I loved this movie despite it's flaws because of how inventive it is visually (with strong direction by Brad Silberling) and the zany performances, combined with that awesome Michael Giacchino score. I had the opportunity to view this with the director and composer in Austin and it was a blast. This viewing was also excellent. For those curious the PQ/AQ are top notch and there are a number of excellent bonus features to make this release worthwhile.

Terminator -- held up extremely well over the years -- the PQ isn't as bad for a movie of it's time (and budget).

GenPion-
My sentiments as well. As you said, one thing that I immediately like was the score. I would have liked to have watched it with the director. The impression I got from the documentary was he really was a fan of the TV show. I too will wait until its a little bit cheaper. I also watched South Park. I loved that movie...I am on the fence on upgrading however because of finances...maybe a later buy.. |

Casablanca: My favorite movie of all time and have watched it countless of times but never on HD. PQ was phenomenal and even the audio which was only a 1.0, was impressive.
The Adventures of Robin Hood: Another classic that has been much improved by HD. Very impressive PQ and audio. |

The Proposal a rental from Blockbuster. Not a bad movie. It had some laughs. Not worth a purchase for me at the current deals. I'll wait for the eventual used copy or price drops.
Crank 2 Tried to watch this but it wouldn't load in my BDP350 Tropic Thunder seen it before but I thought I'd catch it again. |

I watched Grace the other day. Didn't care much for the movie, but it looked good.

re: Last BD or 4K UHD disc you watched?
That's Entertainment - PQ varied, as expected, with the age/quality of the original clips, but I barely noticed. Absolutely enthralling, a sort of greatest hits of MGM musicals. It was a real hoot watching Jimmy Stewart and Clark Gable attempt to croon.

Watched Misery for the first time last night -- had interesting dreams as a consequence.

LA Confidential I love this movie, and didn't realize how long it had been since the last time I watched it. Long enough to completely forget nearly the entire first half of the movie. The picture quality is so much better on Blu-ray than on the old DVD release.
