Last BD or 4K UHD disc you watched?

re: Last BD or 4K UHD disc you watched?
Finally got around to start watching my Blu-Ray of True Detective: Season Two. Watched the first three episodes on Disc One. Pleasantly surprised...I know this got quite a lot of negative press when it was released, but obviously that was largely because of how great the first season was. I like all of the actors involved in this second season and so far I've found it pretty compelling (I was especially happy to see Fred Ward appear as Colin Farrell's dad, as I had not heard that he was in this, as he doesn't seem to be in too many shows/movies these days). I'll probably watch a few more episodes today after the Belgium/France game. I imagine that if this didn't have the name of "True Detective" in its title, it would've been taken as a pretty good HBO mini-series. That said, I'm very much looking forward to the third season.
Also continue working through the massive Herzog boxset that was released a couple years back. Got around to watching Heart of Glass. Was actually pretty surprised at how much I enjoyed this one. While it obviously doesn't reach the heights of Aguirre, Wrath of God or Strozsek, for me it's definitely right in the middle of Herzog's filmography. Looking forward to checking out the couple remaining films in the set that I've yet to watch...

Watched True Detective: Season Two episodes 4-7. Pretty great stuff. The only character whose arc I'm not really liking is Taylor Kitsch's. Aside from that, while not living up to the first season, it's very compelling. I intend to watch the Season Finale tonight.

Some nice skin from Jennifer Lawrence. Otherwise I was confused several times as the plot was largely "whose side is she really on?"
This was a rental. Didn't blind buy a couple weeks ago when it was cheap. I wouldn't mind visiting once more to figure out what the hell was going on. Largely stereotypical of the Russians.

No great shakes in terms of plot, but I could easily see how/why this would has made such a lasting, outsized impression.
In terms of how the film is mounted- from the set design/decoration to the way scenes are blocked and even further into elements of the actual story, for a film from 1930, still in the first rays of light at the dawn of sound, this comes across as remarkably mature and sophisticated.
Young Cooper works well as a charming, but callow rogue, especially when paired and contrasted with Dietrich's worldly fallen woman. But it was Adolphe Menjou, playing the Ralph Bellemy role, who was my favorite character of the lot.
Great ending for one of those films that charms me more, the more distance I get from it.
Even though I was a classic movie buff from an early age, I'd always avoided Dietrich's films as she struck me as a little too butch for my taste. After this though, I'm happy with the purchase and very much looking forward to exploring the rest of the films in the set.

Rocky V
It is not that bad as everybody says it was though the hip hop music in the movie sounds outdated.

Solid adventure/WWII movie that plays more like a Powell & Pressburger take on Wages Of Fear than any typical war movie.
Terrific, on point ending too.
This is another one of those films that I expect will only get better the more I muse on it in days to come.
Golden Voyage Of Sinbad from

Didn't light my fire as much as it has in the past. In fact, I had more fun with Eye Of The Tiger last year than I did with this. Not a bad film, just couldn't really get into it this time for some reason.

This movie was more about Borg than McEnroe.
I thought Shia playing McEnroe was going to be a joke but he was alright though he did not have a lot of screen time.

I marvel every time I pop this in. The transfers look incredible and the audio is equally sublime.
I'm happily contented to savor this set with one ep every couple of months.

Fired up the HD DVD player for the first time in ages for this goofy comedy. Julie Bowen looking pretty hot. Christopher McDonald at his slimy best and Ben Stiller in small uncredited role.

Had seen this in the theater. A pretty decent but not great period western drama. Poor Rosamund Pike's character goes through so much trauma I thought she recovered from her PTSD a little too easily. I still think they should have just taken the train and saved themselves a lot of trouble.
