re: Last BD or 4K UHD disc you watched?

Princess Bride updated my first generation non-anamorphic DVD and the BD is beautiful. It had a couple areas where it looked "overprocessed?" Wallace Shawn's head sparkled during the Iocane powder scene. In spite of a couple scenes looking a little sparkley, this was so much better than the original release it was like watching the movie for the first time all over again.

My wife and I saw this movie in the theater when it was released in 1987 and always loved it. This was probably Cary Elwes' best performance and some of the funniest stuff from Billy Crystal.

The Life Before Her Eyes. Don't bother to watch this movie if you can avoid it. It starts out okay at the beginning but turns into a terrible convoluted mess towards the last half hour. It's an awful film. Average PQ/AQ.

Brokeback Mountain

PQ was pretty good (identical to the HD-DVD). Great fucking movie. It's sad so many people refuse to watch it based on the whole "gay cowboy" thing.

I agree. That's the main reason I avoided it for so long even though Ang Lee is a favorite film-maker of mine. I just didn't think it was a movie I could even possibly enjoy as a straight male. I was wrong -- I gave it a chance and it turned out to be a remarkably good film. I own the HD DVD but still haven't watched it a second time yet. One of these days I figure I'll get around to it.

I still haven't been able to bring myself to watch it. I was uncomfortable with the gay kiss in I Love You, Man and that would be nothing to what I would get while seeing BBM. I'm just not ready to see a movie like that.

The watched Batman Begins on Friday.

Haven't watched the extras due to the fact it was a rental and I plan on buying it. I don't watch the extras on a disc if I plan on buying as to give me more motivation.
Was there any action in it? Like Vamp fights? I'm still weary about seeing it because it just looks like another teenage love story but this time with a twist. The only Vampire show/ movie i've ever liked is Moonlight. Is it anything like that?

Awesome 70's crime/drama with all that kitsch setting.

Not really, and the little action it does have is bad CGI. All in all, if you're not down to watch "another teenage love story but this time with a twist" you're not going to like it.

Unless you like things that sparkle.

Death Race 2000 Holy Crap my ears are still ringing. That picture really kicks through the surround sound. Hot chicks, guns, cars, and Jason Statham kicking ass, that's like the best movie ever.

What an amazing looking film. If there is anything to comment on it's that while I enjoyed the audio mix I would have preferred lossless audio by a long shot. Hopefully they will release it that way someday so I can experience the film to it's fullest.
I also thought this film looked and sounded amazing....esp right at the end, I felt like I was on an acid trip....

Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

This is a reference material Blu. One can make a case this has the best PQ out there, this is the type of image you show people to let them see what Blu can do.

I actually don't like the first film, one of those movies I bought only for one performance. I love Tilda Swinton in anything, & the first Narnia is no exception. I just can't stand the kids in these movies.

Commando BD

Punisher: Warzone BD- Way better than I was expecting. Good to see the Punisher done the way it should have been in the first place

Batman Anthology Ok, I skipped Batman Returns because The Penguin freaks me out. But I was impressed with how good Batman looked, considering it's age. Anything with light or color in Batman Forever was very impressive, although the dark scenes were kind of grainy. Even through a considerable amount of fast-forwarding in Batman & Robin, picture quality was nice.

Princess Bride Finally had a chance to sit down and watch this last night. Wow. I recall a few minutes here and there that I noticed were a little grainy or just a little off, but overall, this movie looked really nice.

I'm planning on getting this sometime soon. I heard that Batman Returns has the best pq of all of them so your might want to check that out sometime.

I watched The Kingdom. I'm not sure if I'm in the minority on this one but the film bored me, fell flat, and the PQ/AQ seemed like it was good but nothing amazing. I can't believe how many blind buys I've made recently that have turned out to be films I don't really like... at least I only paid a few bucks for this by using store credit at a local shop.

I haven't seen the BD, but I thought the PQ on the HD-DVD was good enough for the type of film it was. Nothing too spectacular, though.

Been watching the Bond movies, with Quantum of Solace on Friday, Goldfinger on Saturday, and just finished watching Moonraker tonight.

30 Days of Night. Another blind buy. Started off good, fell apart the last 30 minutes. Disappointing.

Predator 2. Yet ANOTHER blind buy. I got really bored while watching this... it pales in comparison to the first film. I'm starting to think I should either completely cut off or severely limit blind buys, as of late...

Just watched Twilight. It was actually a really good movie. If one is looking for a bloodbath, then it's not the one for you. I thought it had good pacing and great character interaction. Good flick.

Also just watched The Jerk (HD DVD) and Stepbrothers on BD (HILARIOUS). Haha "Boats 'n Ho's"!

Blu-ray blind buys are out of the question for the most part. Too expensive per disc. I'll make exceptions at

Hence the reason I've given up blind buys on Blu. Now if I don't see it at the theater I rent it first.
