The Professionals (1966)--watched last night.

Another gorgeous-looking catalog title from Sony. I love 'em.

I watched Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl tonight with my parents...and I think I'm a little underwhelmed with the transfer. Perhaps I was expecting it to be a night/day difference from the up-converted DVD, and while it was an improvement, especially in shadow detail, I just wasn't blown away.

re: Last BD or 4K UHD disc you watched?

working my way thru 'Human Planet'.

As breathtaking as the footage is in all it's glory, I just don't think it's on the same par as 'Planet Earth' or 'Life' right now. Maybe it's John Hurt, or maybe it's just the content. Just doesn't quite have the same feel to it.

That said, I only just finished the first disc and I certainly don't regret buying it

I Am Number Four - Good concept, terrible execution. Pettyfer looks like an Abercrombie model; didn't buy him as an alien, or cool. He's also a horrid actor. The movie spends 90 min. connecting a thousand dots before we finally get to the big finish, which was good but it took way too long to get there. PQ and AQ were both excellent.

Gettysburg Overall am pleased with the PQ and AQ. The only real lackluster portion is the low frequency sound field. The cannon and musket fire should have some really nice tight booming bass but it's pretty muffled. The rest of the soundfield like the russling of trees or the clanking of spurs and saddles are superb

Longest Day Found everything I heard to be true. It was scrubbed clean of grain to the point of people looking like wax and the superimposed backdrops looked even more fake. But it was still a decent upgrade for $10
