Ong-Bak 2 - I love martial arts movies...but what the fuck was that? This was seriously one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (HD DVD) - Annual viewing, never gets old. Wish the PQ was better, but it's not too terrible.

A-Team
Dumb, but fun. I watched the extended, unrated version, which I later learned was 2 hours and 15 minutes - I swear, it felt like no more than 95 minutes. Sure, you completely forget the movie the second the credits start to roll, but if you're looking for a fun action movie, I can't think of a recent one that was this much fun - Carnahan's action beats are some of the best around; he really know how to shoot/cut action scenes to get the most visceral effect out of them. The blu-ray is practically flawless.

Doctor Who 5th Season (last 4 eps) Outstanding season! My interest dropped off when Rose exited at the end of the second season, so I missed the bulk of Tennants run (though I did think he was great in the one season I saw him in). Matt Smitt piqued my interest and I got a good vibe from him immediately in pre-season interview clips I'd seen on youtube (despite the Flock Of Seagulls hair). he didn't disappoint, and by a couple eps in he was as natural a fit for the Doctor as anyone I've seen. I never expected another companion to make me forget about Rose, but Amy Pond just might end up being the one. And big props for finally coming up with a cohesive-feeling season that appropriately pays off in the last two eps.
Night Of The Hunter- first time I've ever seen it, and it was overall a disappointment. I wasn't expecting something as stylized to the point of blatant artifice as this, and that plus the rather thin plot kept me at a distance. Gish's character perked thing sup a bit, but by then it was too late for me. After watching it, I came back and read Savants glowing review and was willing to give it a second chance down the road, but I had already listed it on Amazon, and it had sold within an hour. It's already on it's way to it's new home. A small part of me wishes I'd kept it around to peruse the second disc at least, but then I realize just how much I have in the unwatched pile, and how much else I would rather see again or for the first time. Didn't seem to be much point in keeping it around.
Vampire Circus- Saw this one for the first time as well, and unlike NOTH, this one and I were on the same wavelength immediately. Vigorous, almost psychedelically colorful Gothic horror fest, with a just right (for my taste) level of gore and sex, that I wasn't entirely expecting. Great presentation and all around package from Synapse. Looking forward to seeing the next two Hammers they have, and hope they will be able to wrest more away in the future.

Resident Evil Extinction (3) If you like seeing zombies get blowed up and Vegas under three feet of sand then you'll enjoy this movie. Unusual for a recent movie but many of the scenes looked so scrubbed of grain the actors had that waxy look. Not terrible but enough I noticed it a couple times.

Watched Black Dynamite and Moon back to back with some friends last night. They were some of my absolute favorite buys from this year. Friends loved them both!

Just popped in American Psycho. I've seen the movie a few times over the years and just read the novel in November so I thought it was finally time to play the Mary Harron commentary track.
