+3. I bought 5 movies all at the same time, Matrix was one of them. I also won't upgrade the HDDVD set I have.

Ordered off Warner. $90 is a bit much for me off Amazon, but I can handle ~$70. Went ahead and preordered LA Confidential with it.

I wish they would sell Animatrix by itself. I got the complete matrix trilogy for $20 and then I got the ultimate HD set for $12. I don't need a third HD set just for for the Animatrix and the worthless digital download.

Easy pass for me at that price, I don't need Animatrix period, let alone in HD. The HD DVD set will do until the 1st Matrix gets an individual release with a BD-encode.

Good luck waiting?

This is what people said when the DVD box came out and they waited for an individual relase of the remaster of the first movie. Never came out.

Here's another good reason why the impending Blu-ray release should list for about $50 less:

Since WB.com charges tax, Im gonna keep my amazon pre-order. I really think its gonna go down in price. I sold my hd-dvd set for $45, so I would be ok with around $65-70.

$50 would be EXCELLENT!

new 25% off code gets you this for about $68.25 since warner lowered the price to $90.

Truthfully, there probably aren't a whole lot of people who want the Matrix films on DVD yet don't already have them. So I'll concede that they probably aren't going to move a whole lot of these 4-films-on-2-DVD packs. However, the MSRP on the BD release is prohibitively high -- especially by comparison. A LOT of people just aren't going to see the incentive for upgrading.

In comparison to other box sets on Blu-ray, it's priced accordingly. Die Hard is $85 on Amazon. Spider-man and Resident Evil is $60.

In contrast to other BD Boxsets, yeah, its priced where it should be. But damn, the average customer is looking at $15 for all 3 Matrix films + Animatrix on DVD or $90-$100 for all 3 Matrix films + Animatrix in HD on Blu-ray. That's a pretty big price difference. Conisdering Matrix has been available in HD for a year and a half (when this comes out), that price is a bit too high.

But hey, I'm sure a ton of people will buy it so Warner and all the other studios will continue to put out these high priced boxsets. I'll keep my HD DVD version and hope that when Universal gets around to Back to the Future they won't charge me $100 for it when the 10 year old DVD set is $20.

nuh uh.

seriously though.
the people who are buying that 4 movie thing for $10 arent the people that would buy the blu-ray version.

so one has nothing to do with the other and the 4 movie thing has no impact on what the price of the BR should be.

In this case, yes.

$15 for a 4 DVD Pack or $100 (probable Best Buy price) for the BD 4 Pack.

Both sets give you an awesome movie (The Matrix), two crap films (Matrix 2 and 3) and a decent animation (Animatrix). If I already did not have the HD DVD version, and wanted to see all the Matrix films, I'd grab the cheap $15 pack and save the other $85. Matrix 2 and 3 are not something with a high re-watchability factory for many people so spending $100 for 1 film (and maybe the Animatrix) may not be a good idea.

It sucks Warner won't release these individually, but its probably for that exact reason. Who would actually buy Matrix 2 and 3 individually. Hopefully they will release Animatrix one day by itself. I'd love to see that one in HD.

I agree to an extent, but I think the two versions so disparately priced will probably also keep a lot of people from buying either.

I wouldn't write it off entirely. I think it'll have an impact, just as I think still being able to buy what is essentially the same set on HD DVD for

As will I. I have no intentions of spending the extra money for the Animatrix and a stupid book I'll never look at.

I agree. Few people are going to compare and pick between these two releases. The four-pack is for mass-market impulse purchases. The BD is for people who have already bought the DVDs (and probably the HD DVDs) so pricing is going to be based on not comparative prices but on what the market will bear.

I'll be sticking with my HD DVD copy for awhile. I have the Animatrix on SD and honestly have only watched it once. Not enough to justify a BD purchase.

I'll be happy to get the BD set as I can finally get rid of my DVD set I've kept around for the extras. I tried to go with the Ultimate HD DVD set but the damn combos were shit shit shit, so I had to keep the DVD's for the extras and go with the non-combo HD DVD set.

I know I won't get much for the HD DVD set but oh well, I do like all 3 films (gasp!).

Best Buy will have the collection for $74.99. Here's a pic of the set. The movies are in slim cases:

Did no one buy this? Why is no one talking about this release? Wasn't it a huge awaited release?

I have it. I think the price, the fact that it was already on HD-DVD, and the dislike that many have for the sequels probably resulted in less talk about this release.

I've watched the first two and i'm pretty happy with the set
