Why the hell is Patriot Games bundled with Sum of All Fears? Shouldn't it be with Clear and Present Danger? (It would make more sense to me - then again, I guess they wouldn't sell many copies of Sum otherwise...)

I wish they'd bundle Sweeney Todd with The Hunt for Red October, so I could knock out 2 titles I haven't gotten around to yet for some reason. I know they're very different, but so are Nacho Libre and The Spiderwick Chronicles.
Picked up the Payback/We Were Soldiers 2 pack for $19.96 from Walmart today. |

Well then, how about ST and Zodiac next month? They're both about serial killers. :) |
Paramount seems to be moving old stock not newer films (Zodiac) on BD.

Did anyone who ordered the Sopranos HD DVD sets from Borders ever get a shipping confirmation or charge on their card?
They finally charged my card this morning, so looks like I'll finally get those sets. |

There's been zero news of a new release date since it was delayed a couple of months back.

If you stuck it out, and end up getting these, good for you. I gave up on this order a couple of weeks ago, and cancelled the order. I'd honestly be surprised if they do ship these to you, but good luck.

Oh well, I've never owned the flick on DVD and don't care about features so not a huge deal... just don't tell me the transfer is shit. |
Not sure if this has been posted already.

Does anyone know if the UK Omen Trilogy is region coded? I am tempted to get that because I don't want the remake, and I could use it in the 3 for 3 deal.

For a competent e-tailer, I'd agree, but we're talking about Borders... In theory, they could just be getting around to charging your credit card from your original order (as Borders theoretically charges when you place the order, not when they ship the item). But anyway, again, if you do get it, that is great. I would call them if I were you to double-check. If they tell you what they have told pretty much everyone else, which is that they have no stock of these titles, then you should demand they reverse the charge on your credit card.

I ended up cancelling. The rep on the phone said if the order stays open for 30 days, they will do an authorization on the card (hold the funds) and wait 30 more days to see if the items come in stock. I went ahead and canceled since there's about a 0% chance of the Sopranos sets coming in stock.
Their 30% off list price coupons are not quite enough to lure me back to them. |
That was my first and last time I order from them.

Sorry to hear that, but can't say I'm surprised. Not that this HD-DVD debacle was the be-all end-all, but the experience has soured me enough on Borders that I am really trying to not give them any of my business. Their handling of this one little "sale" has been horrible, from keeping orders open indefinitely, not having accurate stock information, having their computers down time after time when I tried to cancel, not giving a crap about their customers generally, apparently now charging credit cards without any chance of shipping the item, etc.

People have pretty much stopped buying CDs altogether, and their DVD/BD prices are scandalous. I guess they still sell some discounted books, but B&N eats their lunch. Their new website is atrocious, and there is no reason to shop there when Amazon, et al are so much better organized and priced. In this economy with so many "solid" chains folding up, I can't see Borders making it to 2010. |
2009 will be the end of Borders...no doubt (in my mind) about it.

As long as they have a liquidation sale I'll be all over it. My local Borders gets shopped alot, but it's mostly for books. I can usually find alot of OOP dvds there though. |

Borders' stock has been under a buck for a while now. I just hope that I can unload my remaining gift cards before they file for Chapter 11 or 7.
I feel bad for people that got a GC as a Christmas gift (my girlfriend did, she prompty spent it already) |

Firefly Complete Series Blu-ray for $29.95 CAD at Amazon.ca Even after shipping, the total for the two was only ~US$45. Best price on Firefly alone is about $58! |

Well, in case you're up for some super-awesome deals, Disney Movie Club is having a never-before-seen 2 Blu-ray titles for $25...each. Yep, that's $50 for 2 titles. But act now. Supplies are limited. Only one purchase per account as this deal is too spectacular and unimaginable.

I picked up 3. He asked if I wanted one more for $20. I asked if they're still $5 each if I get 3(since maybe I read the sign wrong or something). He said they were. I only bought 3 and regret that decision to this day. I could have had another one and gotten 4 for $20 instead of 3 for only $5 each. |
