Thanks for the heads up on this. I decided to get the S350 as a gift for my parents. The player was $224 at the time I got it - total including Standard Shipping was about $200 for the S350 and 4 Blu-rays. I figure it was equivalent to getting it for $186+tax locally which is about the same as the Sears Black Friday deal. I don't have to get up early and wait in line this way.
I guess I'll just wait until I have another TV that needs a player then I can justify it. |
Amazon has added a bunch of new players to the $100 off deal. The Panasonic BD55, Pioneer 51FD, 2 Sharps, and the LG BD300 are now in the selection.

Damn....

I doubt a sole thread would really be necessary, but what kind of deals are you guys finding on Blu / HD media during the DD 25% off sale?
I grabbed a copy of The Fall for $19.39 -- not too shabby considering the other prices around. |
I just picked up the James Bond collections for less than $45 each, which is the cheapest I've seen them. Although admittedly I haven't been watching for them.
I believe the Godfather trilogy is also a pretty good price, I don't remember the exact number but it was almost low enough to make me buy it, and I've barely even watched the DVD set I got years ago. There's a thread over in the bargains forum listing nothing but people's orders and the prices they've paid, although you have to look carefully to sort the hi-def from the DVDs. |
I seen The Shining BD for 13 bucks at Wal-Mart and I thought that was a freakin' sweet deal. It's making me think about switching to Blu now that the prices are going down and also because the picture quality is much better.

Interesting. I didn't think that you could order titles before the release date during these sales. Thanks for the heads-up!

What's the difference between the WALL-E 1 disc and 2 disc editions?
Strangely enough (prices before discount): DVDPlanet: 30.71 (1 disc) 26.96 (2 disc) Deep Discount: 27.83 (1 disc) 30.14 (2 disc) Hmmm, and now I see a 3 disc on Amazon... |

George Use code 'DVDTALK' to get 25% off. FYI, see the bargains forum for threads on the ongoing DeepDiscount and DVDPlanet 25% off sales. |

The discount on the 11/11 and 11/18 pre-orders only works at DVD Planet, not Deep Discount. Just search on "Last Emperor", I believe the first search result will be the BD, check it to make sure, and then click "Buy Now" from the SEARCH page, not the item description page. When you apply the code during checkout, the price will drop.
Any ideas? George |
There's only one BD version of "The Last Emperor," and that's the Criterion.
Here's the link: http://www.dvdplanet.com/details.cfm/info/HVD002067 The third version you're seeing is the 2-Disc Criterion, which has a $60 MSRP. Hope that clarifies things! :)

Hey Ted, thx again. I have been to DVDPlanet and seen how that works there. But, still not sure if I'm getting the BD Criterion version or simply the BD version. Not even sure if there is such a thing as the BD Criterion version although I see a wide range of prices for this DVD.
Any ideas? George |

Just notice they removed both of the Sony's and also the PS3.

They pulled the PS3 and both Sony players because they are part of a new promo.
Buy 1 of those players, any 2 Sony BDs, and get any 2 Sony BDs free. Discount code is BUY2GET2 http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.htm...rd_i=193640011 |
Phew. Got the much better deal.
|
I waiting on them adding the Panny BD35 back to the lists.

Target has advertised several BDs on sale. I was in there in this morning and they had many other titles not listed. Before anyone posts a .com has cheaper prices, I am fully aware of that. This is in case someone wants to own a title today at a lower price. These are the titles I remember seeing:
$19.99 -I, Robot -Master and Commander -Shrek the Third -Bee Movie -Hulk (2003) -Patton $24.99 -Live Free or Die Hard -Jumper -Mr. and Mrs. Smith -Independence Day -Planet of the Apes (1968) |
B2G1FREE On Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.htm...04041&plpage=1 Looks like mostly Warner. Prices have been fixed accordingly. |
It's too bad they won't keep them at their sale prices when doing a deal like this.
|
Amazon.com has lowered the price of The Day the Earth Stood Still to $21.99.

Not sure how good of a deal it actually is...but Best Buy currently has a deal where you buy 2 $20 Blu-rays and get a free PS3 Blu-ray remote (normally $25 at BB). The movies include 300, The Departed, TMNT, Bullitt, I Am Legend, and a few others. I was going to get 300 and The Departed (I'm probably the only one here who doesn't already have them) with this deal, since I've been wanting a remote for my PS3 even though I don't use it real often...but they actually rang up at just under $35 for the two, so even better. Not sure if other combinations will give that price.
So about $35 for 300, The Departed, and a PS3 Blu-ray remote. |

Tenacious D Masterpieces v2 Blu Ray is still scanning at $12.99 at BB, in case anyone didn't get it yet...
|
Best Buys ad is up...
Handful of titles $16.99 (Indy, Panda) Transformers Blu-ray $9.99 And the player sales...SUCK! Samsung 1500 $199.99 Sony S350 and Insignia $249.99 Not sure how DVDTalk is about links anymore for BF ads. |

I picked up a few leftover HDDVD titles. Shipping is steep. Even with the 30% off for over $25 it was still $8 for standard shipping. That adds another $1.33 to each title. I ended up with 6 titles for $38. Still worth it but I hate getting bent over on the shipping. |
