So what should I do? I wish they would give you the option to cancel an order online withouit having to call them. Then I could just cancel that order and place it again with another selection.

The specific B1G1 on HD & BR appears to be officially over. HOWEVER, a new, better, and triumphant situation seems to have presented itself. CH is now running a full B1G1 on all discs, INCLUDING BR/HD (with free shipping). I was able to get a free Blu-ray while ordering a standard DVD of higher price. If this is indeed the new policy, all BR/HDs should be part of all B1G1’s going forward. Since they generally have these sales a couple times per month, this basically means you can get all your BD/HD through CH for half price. Sure the selection isn’t huge yet, but its growing, and all new releases have been there recently. This would be a good time to join if you’re not a member yet. Check the Clubs forum for the best enrollment deals.

For the record: the current BOGOF plus free shipping sale is for today, February 29, only. While it is likely that there will be future sales like this, those with open accounts might want to buy now while the sale is in effect...

Although the Feb. 29th sale is over, the previous BOGOF on HD titles has returned.

As before, entering sale offer code 801888 will give free shipping on the order. Using a BOGOF sale offer code, such as 802335, will give an additional Free SD DVD but not free shipping (for 2 HD titles and one SD DVD, shipping is $6.97).

The terms of the HD BOGOF offer state:

"Blu-ray(TM) and HD-DVD(TM) Buy 1, Get 1 Free Offer: Please note that Pre-Orders can act as your qualifier, but can not be shipped as your FREE selection. A shipping and processing charge will be added to each selection."

In fact, pre-orders due out in the next few weeks will work as freebies, as has been much discussed above. But be aware that it is not supposed to work this way. The expiration date for this promotion remains unknown.

Update on Bee Movie (or lack thereof)

I came home from work yesterday to find "Beowulf" and "8 1/2 Criterion" had arrived. I had checked my account status yesterday, and it still said "pending". I went online this morning and it now shows "Bee Movie" as preordered for $3x.xx, so if "Bee Movie" doesn't come out on HD, I'm guessing they'll have me replace it with something else, or just remove it. I was charged $3.00 and change on shipping for "Beowulf" and "8 1/2".

3/12 update - my order still states "Bee Movie HD DVD" for pre-order, with no sign of a cancel by Columbia House. However, I found there site to be horrible at letting you know the correct order status (in the past, I receive a DVD that on the very same day, the site said it was "pending".)

Am I playing with fire here and will end up with a non-HD copy of this movie, or is there even a chance of recieving it?

So far, I haven't seen one legitimate post that it shipped to anyone, anywhere (including retailers).

3/13 update - it's no longer showing up in my order history. But, I did get Beowulf and another DVD for $3.98!!!! Can't really complain.
