From a lot of reports I read, Fox was tied with Warner, in that Warner was a Fox HD DVD yes away from going HD DVD exclusive. That would have left BD in the same position HD DVD is in today, maybe not dead because of Sony's $$$, but on life support. So I do think it was close at some point to going the completely opposite way.

I can't believe it was only a couple of months ago that I was comparing which studios were behind which format before I ended up buying into red. It's shocking how fast things progressed since that first week of January.

Paramount has already announced SEs of all four Indiana Jones films for May, timed to the release of the new one.

PLEASE PARAMOUNT GIVE US BLU VERSIONS TOO! DO IT!

This really isn't needed either. Please, just report the problem posts and avoid becoming insulting.

I don't think it's that simple. I would be willing to bet that those special editions are just the original set split up with the bonus features pertaining to a particular film only included with that film. Does that make sense? A BD release would take a lot more work. My guess is we won't see those until the fourth film comes out on home video.

Is it just me or does that Paramount statement sound very smug? What a bunch of assholes.

I'm 38 if you must know, and i LOVE NIN. I'm not disrespecting him, I'm just having fun with that line from the song. Get a life buddy. And may I ask, how old are you?

I'll take that bet. If I remember correctly, the bonus features on disc 4 were not dealing with the films individually. Rather, they were featurettes covering different elements (music, effects, etc.) from all three films blended together.

I think it's LucasFilms decision and not Paramounts... of course I could be wrong. Paramount also last December put a SE of 'Braveheart' yet never announced a HiDef version - come on Paramount, ante up here.

relax man. I didn't mean to sound as bitter as I did (I thought putting "classic" in quotes would show that... my bad).

practically 26 years (and on my way to hell )

I didn't get that tone from their release. I don't think any company wants to put out anything that doesn't sound positive for them. I'm just glad they'll be back on Blu-ray.

I'm not here to brag or boast, just to let you know what Howard Stringer said in a recent statement to all Sony employees.

Spoiler:
As you no doubt have seen in the news, Blu-ray has officially emerged as the next-generation optical disc format. This is great news, and I wanted to take a moment to congratulate everyone across the company for your hard work and commitment to making Blu-ray a success. We have always known that Blu-ray is the best high-definition format for the consumer, providing superior capacity, more hit movie titles, and the best possible picture and sound quality. With Toshiba's announcement this week, Sony has once again proved that we are at the forefront of technological innovation around the world. Now we are able to focus our energies on promoting Blu-ray's unparalleled home viewing experience to consumers.

This decisive victory would not have been possible without all of us working together in true Sony United fashion - within business groups, across parts of the company, and around the globe. Blu-ray is perhaps the most shining example of how Sony benefits from being both an electronics and entertainment company. Those two elements came together, along with the support from our Blu-ray partners, to see the format succeed. Our strategy of integrating a Blu-ray player into the "PlayStation 3", which was questioned by some, proved to be crucial.

We expect that the momentum generated by this week's developments will continue to accelerate the adoption of the Blu-ray hardware, movies and "PlayStation 3". Thank you, again, for your commitment and for the extraordinary spirit of cooperation around the world in support of this effort. None should doubt that when we work together, anything is possible.

No the main documentary definitely had three parts to it. There were also separate featurettes dealing with music and a couple other things I think. But the point is they could easily just split up that main doc and then scatter the rest of the bonuses. We'd essentially get a 3-disc or 6-disc collection of the same 4-disc set we all already have. But still. No bluray, no buy.

I doubt LucasFilm really has any say in it. It's not like he owns Indiana Jones like he owns Star Wars
