Ken Crane's went out of business right after I got 5 free DVDs from them. Another company went out of business within days of a Criterion BOGO sale, where I ended up being stuck with a defective copy of Shock Corridor. Ah, memories.

They were. I live RIGHT BEHIND where Ken Cranes Laserdisc was. I used to jump the wall to walk over there. I was there when they started carring DVDs and fading out Laserdiscs. Then they changed there name to DVD Planet. They moved just 2 blocks down the street to a bigger (and nicer) store. Pretty soon they'll have to change their name to DVD and Blu-Ray Planet!

I didn't know that. Ken Cranes' prices sucked in comparison with DVDPlanet. Good move all around.

What a crappy piece of machienery! I returned it and got my money back! I even called Westinghouse AND Toshiba and nobody knew what to do. My PS3 has worked flawlessly with my TV. I knew this war was gonna be over, it was just a matter of time! Now all I have to do is wait for some AWESOME Universal and Paramount movies!
I would've told you to read the manual and/or read about the product you're going to purchase before you buy it.

I did and the morons at BB told me it would work correctly, BUT it didn't work out that way. I even asked the people at Circuit City And Ken Cranes and NOBODY knew why that happened. Oh well, life goes on. I'm glad I only bought like 4 movies. I STILL haven't received my 5 free movies from them!

Well, that sucks. Of course you know, BestBuy is now leading the Blu-ray frontier as they announced they want to educate people about it.

I think I just threw up a little bit. Seriously... how can you disrespect Mr. Reznor by using one of his "classic" lyrics to promote an HDM format?

ugh. how old are you?

Funny since that A3 player you bought was/is only capable of outputing 1080i over HDMI...

Why the A30 didn't work? Could have been a fluke, or a setting that needed to be changed.

It's his sig, he can do whatever he wants with it so there's no need for a personal attack for it.

It wasn't as much a "personal attack" as it was a "defense" for Trent Reznor. Either way...

Probably nothing a firmware update couldn't have fixed. If HDMI handshaking issues are a sign of a product's doom, then HDMI DVD players and Dish Network are both teh doomed in my experience. HDMI sucks.

Yep, only way I am buying a re-release of the original films thats coming. I just have a bad feeling Crystal Skull will be only on DVD when released - basically a repeat of Phantom Menace ridiculously only on VHS

Again, "HD" is NOT synonymous with HD DVD. It never was.

..and Blu-ray.

The forum is called "HD Talk" not "HD DVD and Blu-ray Talk". Its been this way for 2 years now and does not appear to be changing. This forum serves its purpose. When Downloads and such come by in a few years the forum will not need a name change.

If all you ever see if talk about HD DVDs, why would we change the name to Blu-ray talk?

Seriously, though, HD stands for High Definition. Blu-ray is a high definition format. The name HD Talk makes much more sense than Blu-ray Talk.
