Starship troopers bluray??

I know this great sci-fi flick was supposed to be released back in October but does anyone have any word on it? I saw a blu-ray on Ebay but it had to have been a pirated copy. Then again it was from the UK so maybe they had a release already??

It is already out overseas, so it was probably an import. No word yet on a U.S. release although the import is probably region free if you want it bad enough.

Ya it was mentioned that it was region free. It was 8 shipping and well over $20 used. So I guess I'll just have to wait it out.

I just checked amazon uk there's a bunch on there.

a friend just bought the UK version. I'll ask him about it. Apparently the US version is being held due to a possible theatrical release of a 3rd movie.

The UK Blu-ray will function in American Blu-ray players.

The 1st movie was Theatrical, 2nd went straight to DVD, 3rd might be Theatrical? Has this ever happened before?

Don't think it has but I wouldn't hold my breath for the 3rd one hitting the big screen. I could be wrong though but I'm thinking it will be probably end up direct to disc.

Shipping at AmazonUK isn't bad. Three discs ship to the USA for about £5. Plus, they remove VAT.

I put Starship Troopers, The Island and Thirteen Ghosts in my cart. The total came to £36.09 shipped (Approx. $74). That's around $25 each. Not a bad price for imports.

If you don't want to deal with overseas shipping, you can hit up Tony at Xploited. He doesn't list Starship Troopers on the site, but he can special order it for you.

The transfer is good up until just before Carmen flies in to rescue Johnny (and that other character dies). At that point on until almost the end there is significanly more noise and such in the picture. It's still a good disc to have if you like the movie since who knows when it'll release here .

I have the UK BD and yes it plays in all U.S. players. If you're going to pick up the import you might want to do it now. Lots of different UK on-line sellers are holding Blu-ray sales right now with Starship Troopers included. The only thing anyone has heard about a possible U.S. release is that Sony is waiting for a Starship Troopers 3 release.

Can't wait to hear reviews and hopefully direct comparisons with the UK BD.

Me too. I've been holding off buying the UK or Japan BDs in anticipation of this one.

A definite purchase for me. Now let's get a worthwhile release of Total Recall (and RoboCop, though I'm fine having the steelbook and Blu release).

for some reason Amazon, has the trilogy up for preorder but not the film seperately - from what I've heard 2 and 3 aren't really up to snuff with the first film and that's the one I really want anyway...

Yeah, I have no use for parts 2 and 3, so I don't want the trilogy set. But I absolutely love the first film, so hopefully Amazon will have it available separately.

At least 3 has Casper Van Dien. From what I hear it might be okay.

Any word on a single release for part 1? Part two was terrible and I'd rather rent part 3 than get that trilogy set.
