I called my local Wal Mart and was told they did not have any in stock, but expected to receive a shipment tonight for tomorrow's sale. My wife will be there at 8am to pick one up. I had been on the fence about HD-DVD/Blu-Ray due to various issues, one of which being the financial investment, but at 98 bucks, can't go wrong! Plus I'm getting no grief from the wife, so how do you say no!

I figure when I eventually replace my living room HDTV (1080i rear projection) with a 1080p LCD hopefully next year, I'll look into the newer 1080P models and move this one to 720p LCD in my bedroom.

Looks Like HD is really trying to win the format war this Christmas Season and knows that "price" usually will win in the end for new formats..

With all this "sold out" reports, this means a lot more people own a HD-DVD player... Well, sour grape or not, i don't like the A2 anyway... Power to those got it for $100

I just ordered my online with in store pick-up. The state of Georgia is indeed out although I found some, or one, in stock at Oxford, AL. This comes after I just bought the add-on last week but I'm hoping to get two free in store and probably give the unit away to my brother or friend back in Ohio, where there were also none in stock around them! Here's hoping that everything works out okay.

Thanks OP.

Might as well ask now, is there a form to print off online for the 5 free movies? I know I saw the site before but now I can't find it.

Maybe this is what you are looking for?
http://www.bestbuy.com/site//olspage...&type=category

I guess this is the page that I am supposed to show the cashier? I printed it out so I hope that is all.

Order online
Print out order #/confirmation
Print out page showing two free in store
Pick up.

Missing any steps here?

ONLY because the A2 isn't in stock.

Go in, grab your 2 movies. Go to get your store pickup A2. They'll scan the a2, then the 2 movies (which should automatically be reduced to $0). If not, show them a printout of that web add. Easy.

Correct. I've already posted this in a few other threads, but in case someone is reading just this thread, the 2 free HD-DVDs with the A2 are automatically adjusted. I just picked one up within the hour.

Asshole.

I stopped Circuit City first, and they agreed to price match (I'm guessing that means with 10% difference, i.e. $89) but would not give me the 2 free movies.

So I go to Best Buy and they only have an open box for $89, but no remote, so I passed on the deal. But the Best Buy guy finds me an open box XA2 which he is willing to give me for $249 (plus the same 2 free movie deal), so I went ahead and bought that unit to replace my cranky A1.

I go back to Circuit City to get the $89 A2 for my parents, and, oops, even though they were holding it for me, it sold through an internet sale.

I still may stop by Wal-Mart on the way in tomorrow, but it's funny, suddenly, $99 doesn't sound as good of a deal as before

Well, I'm only trying each store once - tried BB today with no luck...and will try WM tomorrow around 8AM - if it's a no-go at WM, then whatever...I'm not going to drive myself nuts for an HD DVD player.

If you have a sears nearby, try to PM bestbuy/walmart. People are having good luck there.

I called sears to see if they would pricematch it and they said yup

269.88 current sales price
98.87
171.01 difference
17.10 10% of difference

$81.77 plus tax after Price match

What are you using to pricematch? Web page printouts or sales circulars?

Wasn't me. A poster on AVS. Judging by the original price, he's PM'ing Walmart's secret sale ad.

I hate the silly bickering, but I found this humorous.
