I'm sure the HD crowd does this as well (I try to stay out of it all together), but reading some of those posts makes me want to be an HD supporter... They come across really snobbish...

You should read the account of the guy on AVS going to Walmart this aft and running into Bluray fans protesting not to support "HD DUD" and "Terrosits Microsoft"

I did see that, very funny. Taking things a little too far. Believe me, if I was one of the many that felt Blu Ray was going to win.

I don't understand why folks get so worked up about shit like this...it's a freaking dvd player. Buy the one you like and enjoy it. Reminds me of the 360, Wii, PS3 bickering...just buy your system and enjoy it. Who cares what other people buy...sheesh.

None of the 4 Walmart stores on Oahu, Hawaii carry Hd-dvd or Blu-ray players. I also called both BB stores and they are all out of HD-A2 models.

This sucks I was hoping to be able to pick one up for my parents. I hope amazon.com drops their price to $99.

You've got to love these guys talking about how retarded people are for buying HD-DVD, and being white trash for shopping at Wal-Mart when half of them can't even post coherently. Reading that shit is painful.

Doubtful. You can print out the ad and try, but doubtful.

You probably have a better chance at Sears than cc, but it's worth a shot!

For any Colorado folks, Ultimate Electronics will PM the $99 deal as well. I stopped by our local store, but the only one they had left was a floor model, and they had thrown away the box. So I said thanks but no thanks.

Also stopped by Wally-world for giggles, and talked to the electronics mgr. She said they received 20 or so A2s. She was also very surprised that I knew what the price was...she was under the impression that the price hadn't been released yet. I asked how big a zoo she thought it'd be in the morning, and she laughed. Her feeling was that everybody will be going for the laptops.

Very painful. Seems like a constant state of denial and bashing. Notice the mods over there don't close down or edit a thread for the bashing of HD DVD, just for the critical comments made of Blu-ray.

Funniest thing Ive read all week.

"Where can you find a number of items at extremely cheap prices well below their manufactured cost? Answer: A garage sale."

"really all the retards that buy those players wont be able to watch the upcoming movies since that crappy 100$ player doesnt support the new disks its like buying a vhs player and trying to put dvds in it YOU'VE wasted your money"

"then you're not a true blu-ray supporter any more, good bye."

Yup, if this is so horrible, why is the player selling out everywhere?

EDIT: He whose name we don't speak, has chimed in:

I guess what I don't understand is that BD players would be selling like hotcakes at $99 (hell even $199), but because HD is having a special sale, they're getting all indignant. Between this sale and the impending (and already much discussed elsewhere) BF A3 sale, it's obvious that Toshiba is pulling out all the stops to get as many HD players into homes during the holiday period as possible.

I know if BR players were under $200, I'd buy it along with HD-DVD.

Scored an A2 + 2 HD DVD movies at Best Buy in Mesa, AZ today for $108(with tax). Although the only reason was because I found the deal before it was posted on any of the forums and used in store pick up on website. I was planning on posting here after I picked it up but someone beat me to it. GL to all who are going for it tomorrow at Walmart.

LOL at his unsupported claim that Walmart can't sell the A2s at this price in some states due to "anti-dumping" laws. Puhleeeze.

I've had a manic week. I began on Sunday by getting an A2 at Circuit City when the price dropped below $200 (didn't open it because I was missing an optical cable). On Tuesday, I tried to price match the CC price at BB to get the 2 free movies, but wasn't successful. Next day, the price at BB dropped to $179.99, so I bought it. Today, it dropped to $99.99, so off to BB I went to get them to price match. Ultimately... I paid $114.98 (including $9.99 for the extended warranty) and can now watch a dang movie on my brand new HD-DVD player. Thanks to all who posted these awesome deals!!

Is it really proper to debate posts on other forums here?

I thought about getting an A2 as an upconverting DVD player but decided I'll wait for Black Friday and see if something 1080p goes on sale.

I just got back from picking up the A2, my very first HD player, from Best Buy. I did have a problem getting the two free HD-DVDs - the lady kept on telling me that the website and the store were separate and that I should've added the discs into my cart when I ordered it. I guess that is true... if that were possible...

I eventually persuaded her to just ignore my in-store pick-up order and sell me the player as if I had just pulled it off the shelf. Had no issues with the two free discs that way.

Now, just waiting for my HDMI cable...
