Well, I don't have much interest in the film (perhaps will rent it on a slow weekend). But that sure sounds like a sweet disc set.

Sounds like an impressive 2-disc set(although the lack of lossless audio is puzzling). But is the movie really that bad? How did it go from Best Picture frontrunner to overhyped crapfest is such a short period of time?

I dont want to sway anyone into not watching the movie, BUT Im just saying to rent it first. I felt like it was overhyped by a mile.

Everyone has their tastes, but I just dont feel this has global appeal like some films. Renting it first would be wise imo.

That said, this looks like an awesome disc. I just wish I had liked the movie. I hope they do this for more titles.

The Man Room is reporting Failure to Launch for April 24th and, excitingly enough, Coming to America: Special Collector's Edition on June 5th for both Blu-ray and HD DVD. Great news! Nice to see Paramount waking up a little.

Holy shit, Coming To America? I thought we would be stuck with the crappo non-anamorphic DVD till the end of time.

fryinpan1 03-06-07 02:31 PM

Paramount Home Entertainment will unveil double-disc versions of Clint Eastwood's 'Flags of Our Fathers' on Blu-ray and HD DVD May 22.

Speaking of Mission Impossible and May 22, the first two films previously only available on HD DVD and Blu-ray via the Ultimate Missions box set will be sold individually for the first time on this day.

That's awesome news on Coming to America. Damn shame what they did to that dog.

Mr. Cinema 03-06-07 02:40 PM

Good to hear some announcements from Paramount.

matome 03-06-07 02:42 PM

Wow, good news today. I was about to cave on Flags and pick up the DVD. Also looking forward to Mission Impossible (screw the second one).

Sweet! I was just thinking about Coming To America the other day and how it desperately needed a new DVD release. I never thought it would come out in HD this quickly though.

I have thought about this myself. What made Chicago a Best Picture winner and Dreamgirls a pretender? I really can't say. Chicago had that quality to it that Dreamgirls lacked I suppose, but it's strange. It just works more.

Solid looking disc. I wished I like the movie enough to buy it.

DVD Josh 03-06-07 03:31 PM

Paramount, seriously, fucking release Braveheart.

Or at least Ferris Bueller :)

bretski 03-06-07 05:57 PM

Does anyone know if DVE (Digital Video Essentials) is really going to be released on Mar 27, or is this just another vaporware date?

Skoobooz 03-06-07 06:27 PM

The Man Room has updated their Paramount item further to indicate that Trading Places: Special Collector's Edition will also be coming out on HD DVD and Blu-ray on June 5th.
