With the $40 MSRP.... it might as well be an import HD-DVD title.

So will Flags of our Fathers be a day and date release or only Babel?

So were all the HD DVD rumors we have heard for months on end about studios crossing over just complete bullshit? Looks like a Blu-ray player is a must. The HD DVD announcements were pretty underwhelming and zero studios seem to be crossing over to the HD DVD side. Is Paramount still supporting HD DVD? They don't seem to care much about it.

No, not bullshit. Patience. CES has just begun.

I know, I know. I've waited this long for CES you would think I could wait for the announcements to come out. The anticipation is killing me and nothing so far has been that exciting other than the Onkyo player.

I'm pretty sure the Face/Off SE is coming to both formats. Payback Straight Up has already been announced for both HD-DVD and Blu-ray.

The big problem with Paramount is they're just not releasing enough titles. After their initial launch a few months ago, it's just been day-and-date stuff since then. No catalog titles(unless you count Reds which made its SD-DVD debut at the same time).

As far as Blu-ray studios going format neutral, Lion's Gate crossing over wouldn't shock me. I wouldn't hold my breath with regards to Disney though.

Yeah, a half day into the show. I'm not going to count them out just yet.

It seems to be mostly hardware announcements from the HD group.

The head of the Fox Movie Studio has said BD sales were 20% above HD DVD sales for the week of 24th December. Apparently the first time BD sales have surpassed HD DVD sales.

Yes it has, but the press event for hd-dvd was last night. Why would they not announce such huge news like new studios at that event??

Because apparently there could still be issues with LG getting fucked over by Sony. It could get resolved this week. Who knows.

Obviously there will be ramifications for any BD-only studio that decides to switch over. it's not just a quick and simple decision.

Other than some rumours started on internet message boards is there actually any solid evidence that Lions Gate have any interest in releasing on HD DVD? Is there any evidence that Universal want to release on BD for that matter, since I've also seen rumours to that effect?

At least for Lions Gate, the somewhat partnership of MS and LG for Xbox hd content is the key. They were specifically mentioned in the MS presentation last night.

It does look like there is some evidence it will happen and they will go neutral, but of course its not certain.

Other than that, its purely rumors for other studios.

Eh, of the new titles, I might get the two Aronofsky movies, and possibly Monster's Ball. I have a feeling that Pi is going to look like crap though (relative to other titles) because of how it was filmed.

Cool, thanks... I'm pretty underwhelmed though by the new titles, won't be getting any of them, just Crank & Reservoir Dogs which were already announced.
"There has never been a home entertainment experience available to mass audiences like Blu-ray, and Lionsgate will continue to deliver to consumers our top-line product with sound, audio and extras that are beyond anything they ever could have imagined," said Beeks. "As a company, we have always been at the forefront in utilizing technology to offer consumers the best viewing experience. Blu-ray's technological capabilities take home
movie-watching to new levels."
Doesn't look like Lionsgate is going to HD-DVD anytime soon.

Are you talking about LG on BD? If so, why the boycott for exclusivity? They're certainly not the only one.
