BTW I think HTF have chats with reps from various studios, and of course R Harris's contributions.

What's happening here is the BOSE effect. BD is spending it's money on flash and marketing and not where it should - substance. Their discs use an inferior codec and don't even bother to port over extras. And, just like BOSE, they charge more money for an inferior product. Then they trumpet false sales numbers and misrepresent existing ones, then extrapolate them to ridiculous proportions.
It's not personal. I don't think it's too much ask for studio reps to be truthful, do you?

The Fox guy is exagerating. Every salesman or marketing person I have ever met does so. Unless everyone buying BD is buying B&M and on Foxstore.com, the sales figures do not jive with the quotes. There has been gains by BD recently because alot of people got a PS3 for Christmas and a bunch of people are going to two systems (HD-DVD and BD) - just look at this board - and BD is selling to this huge influx of new people. After the holidays and this surge of new buyers calm down, I feel everything will get back to normal and sales should be about even unless the HD-DVD drought continues. I know I have been purchasing in the last few weeks, BDs and not HD-DVD. Tonight I ordered a little of each. Going foward I would expect alot of us with both systems will be buying a few from both sides on a regular basis and that will skew the numbers a little more in BD's favor since we were buying only HD-DVD.

Don't think this has been posted yet...

Warner Home Video's press conference concerning the Total Hi Def disc that has HD DVD and Blu-ray all on one disc is currently ongoing, and it has stated that the discs are able to contain dual layers of both HD DVD and Blu-ray on one disc. The first Total Hi Def releases will hit in the second half of this year, but no specific titles have yet been announced. At the conference, Warner used a copy of Superman to show off how it worked in an HD DVD player, Blu-ray player, and the recently announced LG Super Multi player that plays either. Finally, Warner claims it will not cost "materially" more than a regular disc. At the conference, already an exec from Best Buy has come out in support of the format, but whether or not other studios would ever pick up on Total Hi Def releases is still unknown, although Warner claims they would not have to pay any licensing fees to Warner for using it. For more information, check out our live coverage of the Warner Home Video press event.
Interesting that they state that it will be able to hold dual layers of both HD DVD and Blu-ray. I wonder if it is going to be a flipper then, or they can actually do 4 layers on one side.

Oh good lord, digipacks already? (At least, that's what it looks like.) I know I'm in the minority, but I don't care for them.
I was also hoping for a purple case. We'll see what the spine looks like.

I originaly thought this was the worst idea since the snapper, but if it can do dual layer for both format it may not be such a bad thing. However, if it looked like that on the shelf, no chance in hell I buy it over one of the regular versions. That case is awful, make it a purple case or a yellow case or a green case or a clear case whatever, but do not do that 50/50 cover border crap - it looks cheap and tacky.

Don't overlook this from Engadget:
I don't mind the TotalHD case either, for what it's worth. I wouldn't say I like it, exactly, but it's not any worse than either of the other formats.
When will see LOTR in this format?:
They are working on it now and are determining a release date.

And We are winning the war in IRAQ........Just like anyone in the world that is a leader , it is about selling BS to the public in order to further your agenda
Would you rather the Fox guy said
"EVERYONE we are DOOM , SALES ARE BAD AND SHIT MAN I AM GETTING FIRED NEXT WEEK" or " I am personanly selling 70,000 a week, this time next year it will be 300,000 a week and by 2020 it will be 900,000,000,000,000 EUROS A WEEK"

When you think about it, all the BD announcements don't mean anything at the end of the day. So they are releasing all these great movies on Blu-Ray, so what? All that means is a bunch of Blue cases sitting on BB/CC/etc shelves rotting because no one is buying them. I mean i was at Wal-Mart earlier and they had PS3's sitting on the shelf, a buddy i work with bought one from Gamestop the other night and said the worker told him they can't sell the damn things anymore. HD DVD is winning this war whether Sony likes it or not.
So yeah, I am just going to chill and ride this thing out and hope that the underdog prevails over Sony and their bullshit & lies.

I think content will be king and with all of the new releases on the horizon for BD it looks kind of grim. I think it's going to be a long year.

So now, BD and HD-DVD can release all they want, but the key is ARE THEY SELLING? Right now, not very well (and we've all seen the numbers to show that) as compared to regular DVD.
Perhaps this is part of the HD DVD forum's strategy - wait until the market has a higher concentration then blast it with releases.
