I was kind of prepared for Poltergeist getting cancelled, since it wasn't there when I ordered the Kubrick titles and Twilight Zone: TM on their site a few days ago.

Sucks for those that were wanting it, it was a maybe for me (don't remember too much of the film).

You'd think studios would know what they're doing... but I guess they're like every other company... communication problems, rescheduling, human error, etc

Very frustrating for us though.

Maybe, but with the pervasiveness of the Internet these days, things are a lot more transparent in 2007 than they were in 1997.

I didn't really pay attention until around 1998, but I don't remember too many cancellations. One of them was Fox cancelling The Abyss as one of their first titles in the fall of 1998, but they replaced it with Speed. There were some announced Spielberg titles that had to be postponed, such as Men in Black. Back to the Future had quite a history getting to DVD five years after it was originally announced as a Universal launch title in 1997. I also remember seeing a commercial for U2's Zoo TV tour on a disc from 1997, and that didn't get released until last year.

A Polergeist SE was rumored a few years ago on DVD and was cancelled. I think that was about 2005, this isn't too surprising.

A certain member on AVS who is sometimes right (also wrong alot) about upcoming release dates says that Disney will release National Treasure BD on 12/18. That would make sense because the sequel opens 3 days later.

Yeah, I heard something the Starship Troopers Blu-ray would guarantee citizenship.

I demand that I would like to know more about this!

Ratatouille on Blu-Ray 11/6

http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...s_November/852

Hide the cheese! Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced that the rats of 'Ratatouille' will make their Blu-ray debut this November.

Due in stores November 6, day-and-date with the standard-def DVD version, the Blu-ray edition of 'Ratatouille' will boast a 1080p transfer in the film's original 2.40:1 aspect ratio and uncompressed PCM 5.1 audio (at 48kHz/24-bit).

Among the bonus features will be a new documentary on the making of the film, deleted scenes and the short film "Your Friend the Rat." Extra exclusive to the Blu-ray include "Gusteau's Gourmet Game" and a "Cine-Explore" mode, which Disney is dubbing the "ultimate behind-the-scenes innovative experience." (We hope to get further information soon on just what exactly this feature entails -- stay tuned!)

Disney has set a $34.95 list price for the Blu-ray version of 'Ratatouille.'

November 6 is turning out to be a quite a day for Pixar releases on Blu-ray, with Disney also set to debut both 'Cars' and 'The Pixar Short Film Collection.'

Oops, that's what happens when I don't check back on previous pages.

Here's another on from HDD that doesn't look like it was posted

Evan Almighty on HD-DVD 10/9

http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...is_October/854

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced it will bring the box office underachiever 'Evan Almighty' to HD DVD this October.

A sequel to the 2002 Jim Carrey blockbuster 'Bruce Almighty' (which hit HD DVD earlier this year), 'Evan Almighty' was seen as something of a disappointment at the box office this past summer despite the presence of red-hot Steve Carell. Though it cracked the $100 million mark in domestic receipts, with a reported gargantuan production budget north of $180 million, the film had little hope of turning a profit.

Regardless, Universal will give 'Evan Almighty' the full special edition treatment on video when it releases day-and-date HD DVD and DVD versions on October 9.

Tech specs include 1080p/VC-1 video and a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 surround track, plus Dolby Digital-Plus options in English, French and Spanish.

Among the extras will be a series of eleven featurettes, deleted scenes and outtakes. 'Evan Almighty' will also be Universal's latest U-Control-enhanced HD DVD release, boasting a picture-in-picture video commentary plus two trivia tracks: "Ark Building for Dummies" (featuring pop-up 3D graphics) and "Animal Wrangler" (with more traditional subtitles).

Universal has set a $39.98 for the HD DVD/DVD combo version.

For those of you who are planning to buy Heroes S1 when it comes out, are you going to buy the SD DVD or shell out the thirty extra bucks (assuming you're not in on Amazon's 10% discount) for the HD DVD? I have the HD DVD on pre-order, but I'm having second thoughts - 60 bucks is a lot, especially for a blind buy. I chose the blind buy to begin with because word of mouth was strong, and Netflix has been treating me like shit recently.

I've got the HD DVD preordered. The show is pretty awesome and it looks decent on broadcast, so it should look even better on disc...once due to scheduling issues, I had to watch an episode on the SD feed and it was torture, so for me, it's worth the extra money.

Battlestar Galactica S1 will debut on HD DVD 12/4. 6 disc set, non-combo, $100 SRP, Dolby TrueHD, U-Control. TVShowsonDVD

December is looking to be VERY expensive. Pirates, Transformers, Battlestar Galactica, and Blade Runner. And I'm sure tons more stuff will be announced.

Oh yeah, updated PotC: AWE cover art.

Is the swoosh dead??

But I imagine the DVD will look much better than the SD feed. Most importantly, it will be in wide screen and the compression won't be nearly as bad. Heck, NBC's HD is the worst quality of all the major networks, so Heroes upconverted might look almost as nice as its HDTV counterpart.
