...whichever happens first.

Therefore, I have to keep checking the thread to see if the latter ever happens.
Regardless what you and others think on this board, im not a "fanboy" that would pass up QUALITY releases with all the extras. If they were doing that, i'd have been interested from the beginning. And might I remind you that I probably have less HD DVD releases than most of the people on this board?
Anyway...congrats to those who are happy with their players and I continue to look forward to unbiased posts and reviews as more people get players.

Just got this newsletter from my local Landmark Theater (Mark Cuban's theater chain):
Huh. Interesting.
Your chance to attend a special Blu-ray screening of THE ARCHITECT!
You and a guest are invited to attend a free advance screening of THE ARCHITECT, starring Anthony LaPaglia, Isabella Rossellini, Viola Davis and Hayden Panettiere.
This is the very first digital presentation using the Samsung Blu-ray player projecting in Full HD (1080p) onto the big screen. Experience the exceptional clarity of Blu-ray as it has never been seen before.

Well, I purchased Black Hawk Down and Xmen Last Stand this week, but my PS3 order fell through!! So, I have nothing to watch it on.
Bleh...Sony is screwing me....I should have expected it anyways.

The one thing that this article doesnt metion is the amount of money Sony has invested in this machine already. I have read articles that have stated that Sony will have invested more than 3 billion on this thing by the time it comes to market. I wish I could find the articles I read and I am sure if someine searched they could find them but last I heard they are now predicting that Sony will have to sell more PS3's then thy did PS2's to even get close to breaking even on this thing.
Nobody but Sony has the accurate numbers but I think its safe to say that Sony has spent way more then they should have on this machine and they now have to sell an absolute boatload just to break even. I dont understand, at least from an investors point of view, how this product can ever be considered profitable for Sony. Sure it might give them bragging rights again if they end up selling more units but in the end when its time for the next generation of consoles to come out, this machine will have made Sony very little money overall. I can now see why stock brokerages are now listing Sony stocks in the sell catagory.
I also think this article compliments the one put out by the NYT very well. Sony spent all thier time and money trying to make this thing as powerful as it could be but absolutly forgot to make the thing user friendly. I have now read lots of articles saying the Online service is a joke so far with some games not even supporting friends lists. I honestly dont understand how Sony went from the PS2 to this. Its extremely disapointing to see something like this happen. I was a huge fan of the PS1 & PS2 and was hoping the PS3 would be as great as they have made it out to be. From the reviews coming out now, its clear to see that is just not the case.

Oh, and they're "Blu-Ray Discs," not "Blu-Ray DVDs."

I buy Monster Cables at times and even those are way too expensive but I dont understand how you got charged that much cash for 2 cables. You really should look around next time if you need cables as there is just no point in spending that kind of money on them.

Amazon.com is shipping out my BD copy of Superman Returns today and I'll receive it tomorrow. I'm also buying the HD DVD. This will probably be the only time I'll own the same movie on both formats. It's mostly due to the fact that I'm a mega Superman fan so I have no problem buying multiple versions. I can also do a comparison between the two.

Well, I got a free Prime trial from them so I preordered this from amazon and I didn't get a shipping confirmation. Checking the site gives me a shipping soon message
I would've had this today with my usual DVDEmpire order, or even pick it up tomorrow at Best Buy.

No, I chose the Prime which was free two-day. Did you choose the overnight? maybe that's why (though two-day from today would still be on Wed. the 29th, not Thursday like they're saying). I don't remember the delivery date when I checked out. I was actually hoping they shipped pre-orders out on Fridays like DVDEmpire. I guess not. It was a worth a shot though and I may order non-DVD gifts from them to take advantage of my month's free-2-day shipping.

OTOH, I've had to wait until the following week to receive both Speed and Enemy Of The State.

The Sony BDP-S1 is now at retailers. Release date isn't technically until next week, but someone on AVS picked one up at Best Buy. No work on DTS-HD MA decoding yet. The Pioneer should be out shortly.
